Cell phone while driving...yes or no?
Find answers to your legal question.

Cell phone while driving...yes or no?

Everyday I see people chatting away on their cell's... some even text message while driving... Our little city has a law on the books making it illegal to talk on a cell while driving but here at least you can drive past a cop and wave at him with your cell and he'll wave his cell right back at ya before going back to whom ever he's talking to...

so what do you all think... talking on a cell okay or not?

i dont think its right to do that, i mean im 17 and i just got my license today actually! and i disagree with driving while on your cell phone, i keep hearing about stupid car accidents when people are to distracted because theyre on their cells, and the run a stop sign, or a light and end up killing someone or themselves. like pull over into a timmies or something and call them then, then your safe, and safe from others. i donno, just my opinion

☺I'll Try Tooo Be Nice ☺
they should make it a national law that you can't use cell phones while driving

no its illegal in nc

Maybe out where you live in Mayberry it's no big deal to wave at Officer Fife, but in the real cities, it's a big problem and totally illegal.

Hope this helps

A law is in the house right now with Indiana to ban cells phones, including texting- while driving and I completely agree with it.

I have trouble holding a phone and a steering wheel. Plus if I'm on the phone I don't pay attention to my sides, just what is in front of me. That can be very dangerous. Some cars like to pull out in front of you when you least expect it. That is why I don't pick up my phone until I'm parked.

The law did state that hand less are okay. So it's not like they're taking cell phone privilege away completely. Blue Tooth will probably make a nice profit after this law is enforced.

Only if you are using a hands free headset!

And Texting while driving should get you 30 days - NO exceptions!

no it isn't safe to be talking on the phone or even texting for that matter ,as a motorcycle rider myself I have seen it all and I personally hate seeing someone talking away on a cellphone in there car while driving it is a distraction that often leads to accidents this is why a lot of cities have laws now against talking on a cellphone unless it is completely hands free

I dont think its good to talk on yr cell while driving, but i would do it anyway.

I take issue with those who do not use hands free devices.

If you use bluetooth or headphones, it should be okay, you should be able to handle it. Just keep both hands free. And no texting. For cyring out loud, how stupid are you to try to text and drive, you're putting my life, my grandkids' lives, my daughter's life, in jeopardy. Just stop it right now!!

That's what all the hub-bub is about, right? Those fools driving around with their cells in one hand or texting...how do you navigate like that? It's ridiculous and dangerous. Use hands free people or you ruin it for everyone!

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Talking on the phone or texting while driving is one of the most dangerous things you can do. It should be illegal in EVERY state. It does nothing but distract you from driving, and for that reason it should never be acceptable to use a cell phone while driving. If driving makes someone that bored where they can't do it without blabbing on their phone, then they should do everyone a favor and stay off the roads. People talking on their phones are one of the biggest hazards on public roads today, and someone needs to put a stop to it immediately.

Not good no kind of phone should be used in a car.

It has been shown that using a cell phone while driving impares a driver to the same level as driving with the LEGAL limit of alcohol in your system. So no it shouldn't be illegal. If you can drive with a certain level of impairment from booze why should that same level be judged differently just because it's a device? Texting...shouldn't be allowed, but how do you police that...really. People just lower the phone to their lap you will never see it.

If cell phone talking is so much worse, why isn't eating while driving illegal? or how about talking to a passanger? or reading a map? Picking your nose? There are all kinds of stupid stuff people do. I saw someone folding laundry once!

In my opinion the fine should be bigger if it's determined that a driver got into an accident due to being distracted, be it a cell, drugs, another person, or something else i havn't even thought of. It should be an all encompasing law that punishes people for not being carful. If someone wants to drive in the slow lane on the highway talking on their cell for a second, not hurting anyone, i can't complain with that. It doesn't effect me.

not really but if you have a head set then it could be alright

No. It has been shown it is as bad as driving drunk - and you know how people feel about that.

The last 2 wrecks I was in, I was hit by cell phone yappers and I was at a complete stop - once at a red light, and once stopped for a train.

I think talking on cell phones should be punished the same as drunk driving.

No good at all...........just like driving drunk.

Ashley
I think it is okay. I do it all the time. But I must admit that it is a distraction. For the most part I think people are still pretty safe when they are on their cell and driving. Now the texting and driving is a NO NO because at that point you have to take your eyes off the road.
