Child car/booster seat question, UK?

At what age/weight can a child use a booster seat high back chair (e.g use car seat belt and it splits into a booster seat when child is older, but it is a car seat if you know what i mean, lol)?? I have looked on the internet but cant really find it so just wondering if anybody knows.
Thanks in advance. x

Hello

Child car seats
What the law says

The law says that all children up to 135cm tall (around 4'5"), or the age of 12, whichever comes first, in the front or rear seats in cars, vans and other goods vehicles must travel in the correct child restraint for their weight with very few exceptions.

Visitors to the UK from abroad must also use the correct child restraint for their children - there are no exceptions for them. Family and friends expecting visitors should make sure that their visitors understand the rules. They may need to help them make arrangements so that children use the correct child restraint at all times. Car rental companies can supply child restraints for their customers if booked in advance.

So logic says when a booster seat fits properly, you start using it.

From about 15kgs / 4 years is the normal guideline for these kind of seats. (Obviously the physical size of your child has more to do with it than exact figures for age or weight). It is a legal requirement to use a suitable child seat / booster seat up to 12 years or 135cm.

Most of the baby seats with the integral harnesses say they're suitable for up to 18kgs.

Have a look at www.britax.co.uk/car-seats/
