I've been trying to find the rules for four-way stops on the Internet, but I'm kind of confused. I know that if everyone arrives at different times, the order of who goes is determined by who gets there first. But what if you come to a stop sign and are going straight and someone directly across from you stops at the same time and is turning left. Who goes first? Also, what if four people arrive at exactly the same time. How to you know who is to go? I know there is some rule about the person to your right (or farthest right?...not sure what that means) going first, but in this case everyone would have a person to their right. And even if three people arrive at the same time, everyone has someone to their right except one person (who would have someone directly across from him and someone to his immediate left). Does this mean that he goes first? Thanks for any help you can give on this.

A. The car going straight goes first. The car turning left waits.

A. Yes, exactly, that is what "farthest right" means. The car with no cars to its right. |

A motorist arriving at the intersection must yield the right of way to motorists who arrived before him, waiting his turn to enter the intersection.
If two motorists arrive at the same time, if on different streets, the driver on the left should yield to the driver on the right; or if on the same street, a driver desiring to turn left should yield to the driver from the opposite direction.
Know that if there is more than one vehicle arriving at the same time at the 4-way stop, the vehicle furthest to the right is allowed to leave first.... |

well that was all really confusing. I just go by if more than one person gets there at the same time then you just kinda look at the other people and someone will wave you to go, or you would wave someone to go |
