I have seen some brake lines cut just slightly and some that have been poked with a pin and yes the mechanic can tell if it was an accident or if someone did it.
If it was done deliberately I would call the police from the repair shop and get this on file along with an affidavit from the repair shop for future reference and for your protection. |

Yes it can be easy to spot, but it is also easy to make it look like it was wear and tear if someone wanted to be real cleaver and cut your brake lines. Either way they would have to get under the hood or jack up the car if I'm right.
Most likely it is a mechanical problem unless you have someone vindictive after you that might possibly scoop that low! |

Your brake fluid is in an enclosed environment which means that it is not supposed to leak. When the brake fluid is low in the resevoir, it usually is an indicator that the your brake pads are wearing low. Normally, when the pads are low, you will hear a squeeling sound as you break. That's squeeling is the brake indicator telling you to have your brakes checked.
Considering that it's a 2004. You might be due for a brake service. |

trust me.. if someone cut your lines as soon as they are looked at you can spot if they were cut or just were old.... i mean its a 2004 so the lines shouldnt be old and start breaking.. you might just have a small hole... but it is very easy to spot if they were messed with or cut. |

the mechanic will tell you right away if it looks intentional. Take it in.
Also, consider getting a web camera and set it up to monitor your car/stream to your PC. If you think someone is messing with your vehicle you need to see who it is! |

Yes a mechanic can see if the lines have been cut or not. Just because it's low doesn't necessarily mean they have been cut though. Do you have some enemies? |

The brake fluid will go down as the brake pads wear down. If your lines have been cut a mechanic will be able to tell. That is kind of scary. |

You do need to check your brake fluid regularly because it can and does sometimes leak out. It's not that hard to do and usually be done in just a few seconds. It' possible you may have a slow leak somewhere in the line.
If your brake line has been cut, it will most likely be a "clean" cut and will be easy to spot but that probably isn't the case. |

it can easily be determined if someone cut the lines. brake lines and other brake components can leak due to wear or accidental damage. |

you could have a leak on one of the cylinders, a leaking fitting etc, it just runs out after time, if someone cut your brake pipe you would have no brakes at all first time you push pedal |

Your lines have NOT been cut. You either need new linings or there is a leak in the system. |

It can happen. Thats why you need to check it once in a while. |

My mechanic spotted my break line cut and spotted it cut in Sept. But at that time, a friend of the family said that the tow driver misplaced the chains and that was why it got cut???? Is this possible? I did not have my car towed the second time. |
