Dangerous Drivers!?

Why are the UK roads so full of OLD CR@PPY Drivers, i mean they have a delayed sense of reaction, drive at a snail's pace, ALWAYS cut you up on roundabouts and CUT corners thinking they're the next Damon Hill...
I think they are better off taking the BUS!

you can't do anything about it since half the people on the roads are there without licences and insurance.

best thing to do is use your horn often

Taxi drivers are the worst. They bomb around and think they own the roads, driving well up your butt when you are driving within the speed limit. I hit the brakes and slow right down to p them off.

I don't know if 57 is old or not, but I'll throw down a challenge to our boy-racer friend.

Let him see if he can average 40mph on a deserted road in the middle of the night, covered in snow, and arrive home totally unstressed and having just listened to a fascinating discussion about the future of Europe on the World Service.

The young pretenders of to-day know NOTHING.

As for very old drivers, I knew a chap called Cecil Clutton who was connected with the Vintage Sports Car Club, and who regularly took an old Bugatti to hill-climb events well into his 80's and could still show quite a turn of speed.

I hate it when people pull out in front of you from a side road (rather quickly) and then drive at a snails pace once they're on the road.

And then you have people who drive with rage, always wanting to get ahead of the car in front, even though the traffic is busy.

People who block junctions because they didn't judge when to stop properly (even when there are yellow boxes painted on the road).

I really hate the drivers at the moment who have spot lights or even just 4 headlights on their cars. They blind oncoming traffic and are completely unnecessary.

What's with people deliberately adding things to their car (and exhausts) to make them louder, so even when crawling at traffic lights it sounds like they're at maximum revs. who are they fooling?

I think they need to add the topic of driving psychology or behavior to the driving test. It would make our journeys much more tolerable.

With 50 years of driving experience and NO accidents ,I have found the "I just passed my test and I know it all" drivers are the biggest menace on the roads.Their ability to judge speed and distance is nil and the noise coming form the car makes me wonder if they would hear the ambulance ,police car or fire engine
trying to get through.

dont steryotype all aging drivers with the same brush
or all the drivers of mercs /bmws etc all a class above the ford nisans etc all poor people that can just aford to be on the road
I agree with you there are some old codgers on the road that i would not trust with a pram but the same can be said right across the board

See one of my previous questions. The standard required to pass the test is to low and regular follow ups should take place.

They are the bane of my existence and if I had an on-board missle launcher things would be so different...

I totally agree!
This morning on the way to work , I was accelerating off a roundabout on to a dual carriageway in the outside lane on my dads XJ900. Got to 70 pretty quickly then stayed there. Then a Yellow Renault Megane just pulls out in front of me at 60 mph to overtake a lorry it was following. I almost went into the side of it!!!. I had to slam on the brakes to let it change lanes. I followed it past the lorry and it moved back into the inside lane. As I overtook it I looked in and sure enough the pr1ck behind the wheel was some old bloke with milk-bottle-bottom-glasses. Idiot could have seriously injured me!!

Is this a question or statement. (get it?....okay, sorry) Well, either way, although there is no real excusing them, it's hard for an old codger to give up the road and admit that they're too old. It's like half their mobility is gone and they might as well pack the rest in. My grand dad simply refuses to indicate, course he also refuses to stop blaming others and whacking them real hard, so I let it pass...

Probably because we haven't wiped ourselves or cars our with incompetence. The insurance prices for drivers of various ages say it all. 61 now,class1 Licence for 30 years, accidents 1. Stupid generalisation

jimi
that's because england has an ageing population, so its fully of idots old people that should be shot or 12 year olds driving like retards in stolen cars and throwing things out their window at you.
and i'm english!

If you can't beat them join them.

Maybe you're better off taking the bus! '--)

Good Luck!
