Did you ever get a speeding ticket?

I have read that depending on the officer, they are instucted to give a cushion of 3-5 miles over before they can pull you over. So if you are going 48 in a 45, you are ok, but hit 51 and it's all over. Of course some officers don't feel it's worth the 35 dollar ticket and will wait for the big offenders.....

I've had my license for 16 yrs and have received 2 tickets. Both were in the 2nd year. One was for 70/55 and one was for 41/25. I think the only think they won't stop you for is 5 over or less.

I have gotten 4 speeding tickets to date. The first time I got a ticket was 3 years ago doing 20 over the speed limit, then I recieved 1 more with 3 weeks of the first. That one was only 10 over though. Recently I got pulled over and got another speeding ticket for going 10 over. Then a week later I was pulled over again but this time the officer let the 10 mile over the speed limit go but slapped me with a no seatbelt ticket. So I have come to the conclusion every three years I will recieve a ticket and another will follow soon after, then I will be good for another three years.

I think if you go 15 over the speed limit, it is considered reckless endangerment. Much more serious. i have gotten tickets going 4 or 5 miles over the limit.

I have never gotten a speeding ticket! I'm 49 and started driving when I was 16 so you can figure out how many years that is. LOL You can safely go over 5 miles over the speed limit and then you are game for the cops to give you a ticket. So, as you can figure it is safe to go 5 miles over the speed limit.

I do not have any speeding tickets, although I can't call myself a slow driver at all)) What I do not understand - why people speed? Speed limits exist because police want you and people around you to be safe, not because of their own personal reasons, or something.

As for the miles over the speed limit - it depends on the area. For example, in central TX police will give you a ticket for 5 miles. Sometimes (they have "no tolerance" days) even 1 mile over.

i have only recieved one speeding ticket.. i was going 66 on a 50 miles zone!.. but i have a friend who got speeding tickets for speeing over 6 miles.

Police in my area have been ordered, by a court,
not to issue tickets to anyone speeding 5 MPH or
less over the speed limit.
I've never got a speeding ticket.I take the back roads.
By law police are not allowed to speed by over 35 MPH
in a chase and are ordered to stand down if a chase
exceeds 35 MPH over the speed limit.

I got a speeding ticket years ago. The officer that pulled me over, asked me why was I speeding? I said, "because I didn't see anybody else on the road." He told me, "but I was here." and gave me the ticket. Never got another speeding ticket.

I was caught doing 103 in a 55 and the only reason I am still driving is because it happened in South Carolina and I live in Ohio where driving points don't transfer from state to state. I lucked out but I have a friend who was citied for driving 31 in a 25 now that's ridiculous
