There's a much clearer picture of it on Multimap and it does appear to be a Zebra crossing.
You are quite right in what you have written about priorities at zebra crossings. The only thing to bear in mind is that some pedestrians assume that, because they have right of way, the car driver has seen them and can stop in time - which may not be the case!
Before stepping out, always make sure the traffic has plenty of time to stop and that the drivers have seen you. |

Yes....the driver should stop. You have quoted from the highway code the correct procedure for pedestrian crossings as a driver. Also, drivers in queue of traffic should always leave the crossing area clear to allow pedestrians to cross. |

Sounds like he was an impatient idiot of which there are many on the roads. You do have people who step onto crossings without considering how long it takes cars to stop though. |

The arial view does not appear to show a Zebra crossing.
You are making a bit of an assumption he was shouting "moron" because you walked out in from of him.
Maybe he didn't like your shirt ?
Cars do have to stop at a Zebra crossing, but, like i say, the arial shot does not appear to show one.
edit: fair enough, or was it a pelican crossing ?
either way, he shoudl stop.
Maybe he just didn't like driving through Hull ? |

yes if not a light controlled crossing pedestrians have to wait for cars to stop.to allow them to cross, not so much laws as commonsense and civility and courtesy here, your driver was a pig. lotsof them about... I always stop and pedestrians usuall nod and wave thanks, nice . lets all be pals the same. No place for arrogance or rudeness at all |

All road vehicles have to stop pedestrian crossings, or the people waiting to walk over would not be able to. |

hi, if you are already waiting when the car approaches the crosssing then yes, you do have priority to cross. |

There are many people that dont drive by the rules of the road that is why you have to always be prepared and never assume........ |

Yes cars do have to stop if there pedestrians on it or starting to cross. Looking at your photo it looks like zig zag lines showing a pedestrian crossing.
He is the moron. Get his number next time and report him.
