Yes.Cars are quite safe when they're not being used.

Geezer
Of course you do! Every minute spent on the public roads and streets exposes you to risk.

Of course.

Let's say you have 1% of getting into accident every time you get behind the wheel.

If you get in the car 100 times, you would have gotten into an accident.

Well, sort of. :)

You sure do, there are a whole bunch of nuts driving out there will cause all kinds of accidents.

yes.

on the other hand, the more you drive, the better you get -- if you're a good driver.
in the beginning, you learn the mechanics of driving.
as you get more experience, you become more aware of things that are likely to get you into trouble.

for example, if there is a line of parked cars, i try to move one lane out, so that if some little kid runs out, i have at least some warning.

many years ago, there was a steep hill on the way home.
with a sharp drop off at the top.
i always slowed down, and shifted down before going over the top.
once, somebody parked his car about 1/4 of the way down the hill.
it was only because i'd slowed down that i didn't hit him.
it i'd come over with any speed, i'd not have had time to stop.

when i lived in snow country, after i'd driven a few years, when the road was completely clear, i'd practice skidding, and recovering.
while i knew the mechanics, i did have to use that more than once.

Yes ,of course. It doesn't mean it would be your fault. Just the fact that your there more, on the road, gives this a chance to happen more!

Statistically, the more accident free miles you drive, the closer you get to having one.
