Oh god, havent you heard of the green cross code. You must always look, what if a cyclist was coming up the road and you walked out in front of him causing a big accident. Please be sensible and look from now on |

So you don't see that silent electric car that is bearing down on you and get run over - who are you going to blame?
Sorry but you are an accident waiting to happen, it is not only you who will suffer but the poor sod who hits you (possibly killing you) when you walk out without looking. |

I always look both ways, even if it is a one way street! I have nearly been hit several times by cars or bikes going the wrong way. And really, is it THAT much effort to turn your head and look? |

I look right, left and right again. It's the way I was taught and has saved me from tragedy. |

You should always look! What if there was an electric car, I'm not being funny, you can get them, and as they run from electricity and not fuel such as petrol and diesel, they are silent! You rarely see them but you should still always look both ways.
Remember: Stop, LOOK and Listen. |

hopefully that method of your doesn't get you hit because sometimes you don't even hear the car coming. i have done that while crossing the street. i didn't hear anything coming, so i went ahead, and i almost got hit by a minivan that i didn't even hear coming down the street.
sometimes the sound of a car coming can blend in with the sound of other cars in the distance. you know that sound you hear of cars on the road from a distance when its quiet outside. sometimes the sound of a car down the street will blend in with that sound tp the point where you cant tell the difference. i don't know about you, but that sometimes happens with me. |

Some cars (and all bicycles) are nearly silent. |

You really need to look, unless there is some reason you can't move your neck. Other wise that is probably the laziest thing I have ever heard. The only other reason I can think of for not looking is you don't want to see what hits you.
For the courtesy of other people you should look both ways and make a habit of that. |

I've had someone step out in front of me to cross the road diagonally without looking for traffic. I was on my pedal bike so he couldn't hear me. If my handlebars had clipped him I'd have been flung from my bike. I was going too fast to have gone round him so I just shifted my weight forward and shouldered him. I bet he looked before crossing after that. |

Well if i'm in the city i have to look because there's so much noise, but i tend to look almost at the same time as i start crossing lol. |
