The person entering the highway is responsible for adjusting their speed and only merging when it is safe to do so. If you can safely adjust your speed or move over to allow someone to merge, you can, but you are not required to do so. |

The person merging has to yield in most states. The person on the highway can be nice and let the car on the highway but doesn't have to. |

and sometimes there isnt enough room behind or infront of someone...
so unless they speed up or slow down the person wont be able to merge
too bad theres a lot of people who cut off others...

You have two issues. One is the law. The other is safety. While you may not be required to yield, consider the environment. If it is safer to yield, then do it. An unwritten law of the road is respect, manners, and courtesy. Live it and it will encourage safe driving. It also discourages road rage. This is not to be confused with letting people walk all over you. I think you will easily know the difference. |

the traffic merging usually have a yeild sign and if there is enough room to speed up do so if not slow down their coming over whether you like it or not! |

I help them merge if I can I have never found it much of a burden to take my foot of the gas or move over a lane. we all are on the same road why not help make it safer for everyone< |

THey are suppose to merge in to your lane you are not suppose to speed up just to put them behind you. Do that to a unmarked car and they will explain merging to you. |

Technically you don't have to let them in, but common sense should tell one that we all share the road. I adjust my speed accordingly to allow a safe merge, unless the other person is a you know what. |
