Do you keep your doors locked while driving?

If you do why? I do because when I was a kid we fit about 5 people in the back row of a raised car, and the windows were open. I don't think I'll ever get over it.

I do mainly because I worry about someone getting in when I'm stopped at a traffic light or in traffic.

A few years back there was one of those televised police pursuits. The man being chased wrecked his car got out and ran up to a mini van waiting on a red light. The methamphetamine crazed man opened the passenger door got in and shoved the driver out.

The carjacker didn't even give the dude time to fully unbuckle the seat belt, man was dragged a few yards before finally getting free. That video really made me think.

Yes. Keeps out the bad people and keeps in the good people. If doors are locked an seat belts are fastened, you stand a lot better chance of not being thrown from the vehicle to your death of there is an accident.

I don't even lock my door at night. I'm sure five americans couldn't fit in one seat now, well maby if it was a semi.

I already do lock my doors but ever since I say a show on tv that showed car chases and someone who was being chased by the police had his tires taken out so he got out of the car he was driving and just went straight for the drivers side door of a random car and it opened. That show had to be ten years ago and I still remember it.

Yes always because the doors lock automatically but even if they did not I still would because there are to many crazy people out there.

I've always lived in "safe" areas but I kept the doors locked especially in the rear as a child-safety issue. The car we own now has an "automatic lock" feature, so it locks itself. When I am in the city, I lock the vehicle as soon as I get in as a safety precaution.

I seriously doubt a car-jacker would be interested in my mom-mobile, any more than a serious thief would be interested in taking the time to shepherd 5 children out of the back seat so he could steal your car, but locking the vehicle is simple and now a matter of habit when I travel.

I rarely lock the vehicles when they are here at the house, and my husband has been known to leave his keys in the ignition when he parks his vehicle at home. My father never left the keys anywhere OTHER than the ignition.

Here in SoCal [aka] the concrete jungles, i make sure my doors are locked... and i tend to drive with my windows at least high enough were someone cant reach in to easy...i really don't feel like getting car jacked or a gun/knife pointed at my face!

I do know that locking your doors keeps unwanted strangers OUT, prevents your car from being flung open if a collision occurs causing an occupant to be thrown from the vehicle and possibly killed....
Yes, I remember being the eldest of 5 kids, riding in the family station wagon. with no air conditioning. All of us kids would roll down the windows, and stick our arms out the windows, and sometimes our heads too.........scary to think about all of that now, and no seat belt or child restraint seats/booster seats either...........
but then again, fewer cars, slower speeds, and mom was usually staying at home and not rushing off somewhere either........
Yup, I think locking your vehicle's doors is a great idea.

I dont have a choice- my car automatically locks the doors when I go over 5 mph- but i usually lock them anyways once I get into the car- for safely so that no one can come up and open my door to steal my car. I can still open my doors once moving, I think there is a child lock that I can engage for the back seats so that they will not open from the inside but I like knowing that I am safe in my car- but can get out if I need to.

yes, if you are at a light no one can get in. It is a good habit. in an accident they will stay closed. and you wont accidentally open it while driving..
