Yes,always.When you are driving down a road and you come upon a stop sign,you come to a full stop,so if a school bus has a stop sign out the same rule for the road also applies to the school bus.Even with out the stop sign out on the school bus it is also wise to slow down an proceed with caution,you never know if a child is going to run out in front of you. |

Yes, it's the law. The stop sign equates to the flashing red lights.
The Uniform Vehicle code states:
UVC 11-705(a) The driver of a vehicle meeting or overtaking from either direction any school bus that meets the color and identification requirements of 12-222(a), (b) and (c) of this code stopped on the highway shall stop before reaching such school bus when there is in operation on said school bus the flashing red lights specified in 12-222(a) and said driver shall not proceed until such school bus resumes motion or the flashing red lights are no longer actuated.
Also, different states have different laws in addition to this. Some require you to wait until the bus is in motion. Some say you must stop even if the lights are not flashing. These laws are listed on the cited site. |

Moni, if the other side is the other side of a divided highway, in some states you do not have to stop. In others you do.
If the highway is NOT divided, then you MUST stop.
