Do you think driving examiners follow the rules themselves?

Like follow the posted speed limits... shoulder check... stop before the line... etc.

Are you asking if driving examiners are human? Do they make mistakes, errors in judgement, bad decisions?

I consider myself a VERY good driver. Not only does my driving record speak well of my ability and respect for the law, I know, for a fact, that records or no, I am one of the safest drivers on the road.

But, have I ever fudged on the speed limit? Of course I have. Have I ever had to react quickly because some car "came out of nowhere while I was changing lanes? (cars never "come out of nowhere." They are THERE and I just didn't see them) Of course I have. Have I ever rolled through a stop sign without realizing it? My wife says I have.

The point is that I don't do any of these things out of habit. My conscious habit is to avoid these errors by driving with as much awareness as is humanly possible. My attention is as close to 100% on the driving as much as I can make it happen. For me, changing lanes, for instance is not a simple turn of th steering wheel. It is a sequence involving scanning for other vehicles, making judgements, verifying hazards and taking action. Left turns, right turns, pulling out of driveways, etc. All of these are practiced sequences of events that help assure that risks are minimized. But, like the world class sprinter who occasionaly stumbles, the pro tour golfer who might rarely shank one, or the concert singer who misses a note, I, too can make mistakes.

But my job, as a driver, is to do what I can to keep these to a minimum. Every day. Every mile.

Probably not 100%. Cops too. They think they are so skilled that they wont get into an accident, so they race around like they don't have to worry about getting a ticket..........OOPS, i forgot.......they DON'T have to worry about getting a ticket.

If they don't then it would mean they aren't qualified to teach the material or supervise students. I believe that if you are not going to follow what you teach, then you shouldn't be telling anyone else anything. I'm sure that there are driving examiners that do not follow the rules, because we live in that kind of world. But it should be discouraged. Driving examiners should follow the rules just like everyone else. Its just like police officers. They should follow the laws even though they enforce the law. No one is above, and driving examiners included..
