Do you think more car accidents are caused by people NOT paying attention or by speeders?

Additional Details
So all of the people that say people NOT paying attention causes MORE accidents, so then would you rather people speed or NOT pay attention?

The lack of skill plays a huge part in a lot of accidents. Can a person skillfully exceed the speed limit? Yes they can. Can a skillful driver stay out of a dangerous situation better than an unskilled driver? Yes, of course they can. A skillful driver has a higher degree of situational awareness of what is happening around them that a beginning driver. A skillful driver understand how important it is NOT to be distracted.
My Dad I am thankful taught me well. I drive year after year without accidents.

I think that MORE accidents are caused by people not paying attention, but those can range from very minor "fender benders" to somewhat severe.

Most BAD accidents (with serious injuries and/or fatalities) are caused by speeders.

Granny
Speeders cause the worst accidents. The rest are caused by people not paying attention.

I think its a combination of both. The speeders startle the ones who arent paying attention, they both react and crash. I got in an accident by a girl driving too fast, she tried to change lanes at the last second, made a left turn on the freeway and smashed into us (3 lanes away) causing us to crash head first into the center divider on the freeway. That was determined by the highway patrol to be her fault for speeding.

The number one reason that people get into crashes is driver inattention (eating, cell phone, yelling at kids, fiddling with radio etc.), number two is speeding and number three is alcohol.

You can see this at both on vacodes.com

I think the most accidents are caused by people NOT paying attention. I think the worse accidents are caused by SPEEDERS who are NOT paying attention and/or are reckless.
I do not think speed alone causes accidents.

Good Luck driving out there.

Neither.

The main cause in my opinion is inexperience, coupled with a lack of understanding of the laws of physics.

People often don't KNOW that turning in front of a car going 60MPH will result in a collision, or often don't care. They take the attitude that "I'm in a big hurry and can't wait around until it's safe to turn".

Obviously by not paying attention. If you were paying attention, you probably wouldn't have wrecked your vehicle.

It's more dangerous to not speed when everyone else around you is. I'd say it's not necessarily speeding that causes the most accidents, but it's wreckless driving. Weaving in and out traffic spontaneously, texting or talking on the phone, or just not giving the road and your surroundings your full attention.

I speed all the time, but I'm a very good driver, I promise you that. Of course, the faster your going the more terrible the wreck will be.

edit: I'd rather people not drive with distractions. People take driving too lightly. I'd rather people be smart. If you are smart, speed all you want, I could care less.
