This is so cold. Yes they should be respected and allowed to drive. What kinda monster are you? |

they are probably better drivers than the young inexperienced ones who like to drag race at every intersection. |

If theyre capable, then yes. If not, then no. people should just have to get re-certified every 2-3 or so years IMO.
that being said, i dont think about 95% of drivers are actually fit to drive. Most of you people are absolute nutcases out there and are completely oblivious to whats around you most of the time. |

My dad is 74 and drives cars for a rental car company as a part time job. Sure, some elderly folks don't have the reactions or eyesight to drive safely. Others apparently do. I agree that road tests should probably be required after a certain age. BTW, the word is allowed. |

From what I have seen lately between Wyoming and Texas, I think that a better question should be should *young* people be allowed to drive. I prefer the old people driving. At least they know that they aren't bulletproof. |

There has always been the impatience of youth to remind us that we were young once.
Your concept might be better applied to food, "do you think old people should be allowed to eat? They don't eat very well".
I'm striking your inheritance from my will, unless you show respect to your elders, Missy. |

The same thing could be said about teenagers. It depends on the mental and physical abilities of that old/young person. |

i think once you hit a certain age you should have to take some kind of reflex test /eye exam and the after a certain age then no i don't think they should be allowed ..i used to defend them and say it is a right and they should be allowed to ...then i got hit by two very very old people and they really did not seem to care what they had done ..one even said their eyes were not as good as they used to be... |

it's allowed. |

After age 65, they should be tested yearly to check their driving ability.
Also, younger people should have a much more strict initial driving test. Too many people are passing the test who lack skill. |

yeah, but when they renew their license they should have to take a driving test! |

more young inexperienced people have accidents than older people. Elderly people just drive slowly not badly. Patience you will be elderly someday too Im not old, just patient |

I have a ton of respect for elderly people, as I am a care provider for the elderly, but I whole heartily agree with you. I think after a certain age they shouldn't be allowed to drive. |

It depends on the age, but with a job that supports 4 older drivers, I would recomend an eye test and and a hearing test!! It all depends on what your insurance wil cover!! |

I don't think they should be stopped but after a certain age eg 70yrs the validity of their license should be kept 1yr only, so that every year when they go to get their license renewed they have to give a small test so that the officials get to know if they are still fit to drive or not |

What do you consider: old. Some OLDER people are
very good drivers and some young people are not. I believe
every driver should be tested regularly. You can not just say:
you are OLD and are not allowed to drive anymore. |

NEITHER WILL YOU WHEN YOU ARE THERE AGE DO YOU WANT TO HAVE SOMEONE TAKE YOUR PRIVILAGE FROM YOU BECAUSE YOU DRIVE ALITTLE SLOW. THINK ABOUT IT YOU MAY BE YOUNG AND FAST AND THEY MAY BE SLOW BUT THEY HAVE MORE INSURANCE IT THE ONLY FEEDOM THEY HAVE LEFT SO SLOW DOWN AND SHOW THEM YOU CARE |

considering it is 17 to 25 year olds who have most of the accidents may be they should be band |

i think after 70 they should have to take a driving test. i know their reflexes aren't as sharp, so it may be dangerous. |

Yeah, let 'em drive. If anyone shold be allowed to drive, it should be teenagers. |

Not once they reach the point to where they are a danger to others on the road. I think there should be a special service for them, like a taxi company that can sun them around. I've seen too many of the elderly driving up the wrong side of the road. Even in accidents and let go by the police. SCARY |

Within reason. Is Aust once they get to a certain age it is a requirement that they undertake a driving test every 12months to renew their license. This is to monitor and check their skills, reflexes, eyesight and such.
Provided they all pass and they are in safe and reliable vehicles I don't see a problem.
Maybe limit them to specific times i.e. not after dark or during peak hour traffic. |
|

?

Test them every so often--if they fail, no license.
I've read way too many stories about seniors that had an accident because they thought the gas pedal was the brake! |

hell no my grandma is a beast on the road.. and she cant use the pedals so she has hand controls.. fricken terrifying. |
