Do you think "blue" headlights should be banned?
Find answers to your legal question.

Do you think "blue" headlights should be banned?

I drive at night A LOT and I am absolutely sick of closing one eye as I go by these bright white blue headlights just to be sure I'll have one eye to see with when I get past. ( I heard that jet fighters do a similar thing when dealing with close explosions ). Never mind that part. The important thing is that even on "low" these kind of head lights are just plain blinding. They burn a residual image on my retinas that lasts for up to five minutes. This makes it very difficult to drive, especially on back roads on rainy nights. If driving with your hi-beams all night long is wrong, then these "blue" headlights are doubly wrong. They need to be banned!!!!

and NO I do not "look right into them". I look at the white line like someone said to do. They are still blinding. NOT cool by any means. Apparently some people think that obnoxious and in your face (eyes) is cool... not sure how that idea became popular, but it is about time it was put to rest. An *** is an *** is an ***, stow your testosterone where it belongs already. If you absolutely HAVE to have some kind of "vanity" lights on your car then pretty please with sugar on top... make them shine somewhere else, like at the ground, not in my face causing near blindness. Accidents will happen. I guarantee it.

I believe you're talking about the halogen headlights, and yes, they are way too bright and should be outlawed!!!

And, for those people saying they help people see further and they are safer...they are not safer for all the other people on the road they are blinding. The people in front of them being blinded in their mirrors, the people passing them being blinded head on...they are horrible, horrible lights...people also see better with their high-beams on, but they are not allowed to do this (it's illegal) when other cars are around because they would BLIND other drivers and make for UNSAFE driving conditions! Same thing! And, it's a simple solution...stop making them a stock option on cars and make them illegal...go back to standard headlights. What's more important...safety or looking cool? Come on!

EDIT: vwporscheaudi~ Okay, so Xenon headlights are different even than the halogen, but they have the bluish tint. I still think they are horribly blinding. I have to reiterate just because they help the driver see better does not mean they are safer for all the other drivers on the road being blinded by them. WE know how WE feel when WE are BLINDED by them! I have trouble seeing at night. I see better with my brights on, but I don't do it. If I'm with my husband, I let him drive. If I'm by myself, I deal with it! Blinding others for ones own selfishness is not right!

Ah, the super-brights. Yes, I hate them. Even if I look as far away from the lights as I can without losing sight of the road, I still see spots after it has passed by. They are a danger. Normal headlights are just fine for seeing the road.

yeah they're pretty annoying.

Jelly Bean
I have experienced the same problem, and I wish the government would make the automakers replace them. I have an hour commute to and from work, and it gets to where I have a headache sometimes if I have encountered very many cars with the blue lights.

I agree. And this is really weird, but for some reason when I'm passing a car on the road...I'm like a deer. I can't help but look directly at the headlights. WHY do I do that?!

Also....when those type of headlights are behind me...at just the right angle out of the corner of my eye, they appear very blue and I think I'm about to be pulled over by the police, lol.

Yes! Because it is gonna be glaring to other road users.

Cant really ban something that comes stock on newer model high end cars,BMW,Mercedes and Lexus just to name a few,Some are aftermarket like on your Honda's but most of the time they are factory spec

wertythegamemaster
while annoying those headlights in particular allow a driver to see much farther than traditional headlights. so they see more with their low beams

MiiiichaeL
they are not blue.. but no, got a tip, when driving. look at the white line on the right.

PYRO BOY
i like these blue headlights, they look very crisp and clean. i do agree that they are bright and hurt to look into, but they are a lot safer to be behind the lights then to be behind the lights of a normal headlight... i do not think they should be banned.

They aren't as bothersome as trucks and SUVs which have they're lights mounted at eye level.

vwporscheaudi
Theres two kinds.

1. Fake Blue lights, and yes they are BANNED. There pointless with blue film over the bulb or lense.

2. Xenon. These are proven to be better viewing and safer for the road, including oncoming traffic. If both cars have xenon, than its an even battle. They must be adjusted for height correctly, but most are self height adjusting now, so its all good.
