Do you think speed camera cause or prevent accident?

The obvious answer would be prevent accidents, however, think of the person, mind on the family, who has allowed the car to go slightly over the speed limit. The camera happens to be on a dangerous junction. At the last minuite the driver sees the speed camera and slams on, in a panic. The driver behind was watching the dangerous junction, making sure nothing pulled out. Smack, the accident happened. Imo most speed cameras are a double tax revenue, nothing more, nothing less. In appropriate speed kills. Why are there cameras on great stretches of road, yet non on the dangerous roads most of us can name? To get your money, once on the fine, and every year for 5 years after in insurance premiums.

The only thing speed cameras do is to increase the revenues of the jurisdiction that is using them to issue speeding tickets. They have no effect on safety at all.

Thy caused one on monday in Newcastle! A driver saw a hidden one and slamed the breaks, someone went straight into the back of him!

yeah i was driving the coast road in wales and the on coming car set the camera off it blinded me and i had to put the brakes on hard as i couldnt see for a few seconds and thats all it takes to drift across to the wrong side

I would say prevent. The only way it could cause an accident is if it fell on you.

hi my friend its the preception of one mind in thinking!
if the person that is driving carefully in a good mind. he would really slow down his speed when he knows that there is a speed camera, right?
well in some cases what happen if this guy is drinking heavily and he is not thinking in a good state of his mind and he is also speeding too. would he be able to remember that this part of the road have a speed camera??

Everyone knows that there are serious side effects that can cause crashes, motorists could be coming along at 70, see it is a camera, brake, or get distracted and that could actually cause a collision.

I've never seen it causing an accident.
It might prevent some if the drivers know where the camera is and and slow down.

I'm not sure how they cause accidents but I do know that the next big town next to us who got them said they were cutting down on speeding and accidents. However, my sister was stopped at a stoplight with one and someone crashed into her and ran. The offender was never found... So, I'm not sure if they really help either.....
