While I am not a fan of any government intrusions into our lives, I can see where texting and driving is not a good idea. I do not think we need a new law, this should fall under "failure to give full time and attention to driving" |

I think it should be. It's sad that a law has to be passed when this is common sense. Anyone who gets caught doing this should have their license taken away. |

Yes. Texting is far more dangerous than holding a cell phone to your ear while driving which is now illegal in California. |

I think a driver having a cell phone WHILE DRIVING should be made illegal, whether texting or talking. If you really need to make that call pull off the road. |

I can't believe that people could be dumb enough to even try it. It should be commonsense and not need to be subject to legislation.
Here in the UK it is illegal to drive and use a handheld phone (even for a voice call). However, even before this law was passed the Police could pull you over if you were driving without due care and attention. Texting while driving would certainly have been caught under that rule. |

Yes, how could anyone text and drive at the same time? It's unsafe to have your eyes off of the road while doing that. It's easier to just make a phone call with a number on speed dial and hold a phone to your ear while driving or use a hands free device.
They are considering a law against texting while driving in Tennessee and hopefully it'll pass. |
