Do you think that all new cars should come with iether a inbiult phone or a device to block mobile signals?

I've said this for years. I don't know if it's possible, but surely some system that blocks the signal while the ignition is on can't be too hard, I mean car drivers are already in a metal box.

Yes, it'll be a pain for those that DO use handsfree, but too many drivers have clearly shown that they can't be trusted to do the right and sensible thing (in so many ways!). I think mobile use is treated like drink driving by a lot of motorists, if you don't get caught it's ok.

maybe, but no good if they are using a decent handsfree safe system.. i hope you took the details of the 'person' who nearly ran you over.. a camera would be handy with you at all times to catch the scum who still drive with a mobile on the ear....

i don't think they should either, also why cant they wait til their out of the car or it would be better if they could at least go in a lay by, im sorry you were nearly ran over, also they can concentrate on what they can see on the road and the speed they are goin, i hope we see an improvement on the road soon.

Its hard to catch them at it, thats the problem, they can say they were "scratching their ear" and stuff.

The ammount of them that I see is rediculous, every few cars theres someone at it, but there are never any police or anything around to catch them.

I dont think built in phones or phone blockers would be any use, people will just find a way around them on new cars, and lets face it, old cars dont have them, and no one is gona pay for them to be put in are they?

Its one of these stupid ones I just cant see a way of getting round, but they really do my head in!

I don't think so. I believe that phones are in general are a distraction if you are driving. The driver of a car does not have full attention and the are distracted from talking on the phone. Multitasking is not a good idea because they cannot keep focus on the road ahead or their surroundings. The phone itself is a distraction and whether it is a built in phone or a mobile phone, it is still a factor in accidents. The driver must pay attention to his/her surroundings. Many have been in accidents and have even died. I say no this idea, because it really doesn't solve the problems. The way to discourage accidents is to stop the talking on the phone. Until drivers focus on the roads the accidents will not decrease.
