Do you think your a good driver?

Good?? hummm...If you take the following into consideration, I may qualify...

38 years with a drivers license, the last violation was in a car in 1978. I'm not saying I haven't deserved some along the way, I just try to play by the rules.

30 years, 2.5 million miles with no violations or accidents in a truck. Received a 2nd place award in the 2006 Washington State Truck Driving Championships.

Have been a driver trainer in Trucks and buses since 1977. I have lost count how many people I have trained to drive. It's a bunch.

All of this doesn't mean a thing if I forget to think behind the wheel. No amount of experience or "luck" can make up for common sense and paying attention to what is going on around you. It only takes an instant of in-attention to change your life or someone else's forever.

When you strap yourself in that vehicle, make what you are doing while there, your one and only priority. If the cell phone rings, it has voice mail. Call them back later. Change the CD while you are waiting for the light to change, not while you are trying to merge into the freeway. Again... common sense.

Drive safe...

I try to be. I had some experience with 42 years of driving. I drive close to the speed limit and go with the flow. I do OK and there are no dents on any of my cars.

As you read these answers, keep this in mind:

80% of American Drivers believe that they are saver drivers than 50% of other drivers. (source: National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course 4) This statistic indicates that most American drivers are fooling themselves, and are in a state of denial about their driving habits.

By way of illustration, law enforcement officers hear a common refrain by drivers they pull over for tailgating. The often say that the OTHER driver is the agressive one because they won't pull over.

i ride like i have a brain in my head. i treat a car with as much respect as a loaded weapon, because in the hands of a drunk, it becomes a weapon of mass destruction.

since 1988, i havent had a ticket. my days of livin fast were over cause i didnt wanna fork over more cash to the state. i dont bother usin the phone or using a cd player on the fly. those are just a couple distractions i just cant afford to have in city traffic.

Hmmm, 5 years so far without a single accident, good safety record, nothing other than 1 speeding ticket since 2003. Yeah, I think I'm a pretty good driver.

I personally think every car should have one of those "how's my driving" bumper sticker's with their cell phone number on it. That way when they cut you off or go 20 miles an hour in a 35, we can call and yell at them. lol

I try to be as considerate as I can be.

I just wish others would do the same.

My sister however is a nightmare...

I like to think so. I haven't had a traffic ticket in the last eight years, my insurance rates haven't been raised. I've been in 3 wrecks I couldn't have avoided if my life depended on it, and can debate the benifits and downsides of accepting the rental insurance you're offered when you rent a car.

I keep my car maintained, try to remember to be polite, and keep my attention on what's going on around me as I drive, such as who's an idiot, who's obviously distracted, and "Holy s**t, he's not stopping!"

I can get a trailer anywhere it needs to go, (which I hate sometimes,) and give you a litany of things I've discovered in traffic that I can't stand.

Yes I do. I always signal, I move out of the left lane if theres a car going faster than I am, I get out of the turning lane if someone wants to turn... the small things are what count. Unfortunately many drivers are only considerate of themselves.

I suppose so, I mean I haven't had a major crash for 15 years.
