Do you turn your head slightly to check your blind spot while driving (when turning lanes)?

Do you turn your head slightly to check your blind spot while driving (when turning lanes)?

Do you turn your head around slightly to check your blind spot while driving (when turning lanes)? Or do you rely on just using your mirrors?

I am just wondering because ive been cut off a few times lately, and it seems that the drivers never bothered to check their blind spot...(Or they did, and didnt really care about cutting me off :( )

I think it is possible to eliminate having blind spots by properly adjusting your mirror. But i don't think many people have taken the time to position their mirrors to get rid of the blind spots completely.

So again, do you physically turn your head for a quick check of your blind spot, or do you just rely on your mirrors?

You're right, with the right mirror positioning you can eliminate the blindspot and the turn of the head

I use the mirrors after checking an article on reducing the blindspots "A Simple Way To Prevent Blindzone Accidents" by George Platzer
BGE (Blindzone/Glare Elimination Setting)

I rely on my mirrors

It is important to always check your mirrors and look back. There are natural blind spots in almost all cars. Some larger vehicles have special mirrors to help with these blind spots, but it is important to always check your blind spots. Also, remember to look at your mirrors and blind spots every eight seconds...it helps to know if someone is in your way if you have to move over quickly.

I never rely on just my mirrors anymore. It only took a couple times for me to almost cut someone off doing that before I realized they just don't do the trick for me...it must be a problem with my spatial vision or something. I trust my rear-view for looking behind me...but I always turn my head to check my blind spots now.

I turn my head to glance at my blind spot, especially over my left shoulder. I don't rely on my mirrors at all because I've been cut off as well and people are just looking in their mirrors. It's kind of tricky though because if the person in front of you suddenly stops and you rear end them you'll be in a sticky situation. But I look back

Relying solely on just the mirrors are for STUPID people. No, it's not possible to eliminate blind spots by adjusting your mirrors. What if there is a biker right next to you, how is the mirrors going to show that? Even if you adjust the mirrors, it would create another blind spot at another angle.

I physically turn my head, it's for safety issues and a good habit also. Sometimes, you just can't see that bicyclist that is in your blind spot and it only takes like a second.

Some people cut you off because they know it's ok to. Maybe they have been paying attention to the side mirrors for a few seconds already and they know that you are the only car that is next to them or slightly behind them? Most most people do it because they don't know the proper way to be safe and think they are all that knowing-how-to-drive of a driver.

Yes, even during normal driving I'll glance over every 30-60 seconds. The way I have my mirrors set my peripheral vision sweeps my blind spots every time I check them.

Most people's blind spot is behind the sail panel on the right side of the car. The mirror on that side can't adjust to see a car there and they fail to turn their heads and look. I use a speed/count method when passing and ASSUME the other driver won't speed up when I pass them. I start counting a certain distance behind the car I am overtaking and stop counting when I am even with them. I start to count again and when I reach that number (of the first count) I check my mirror. I should see the car and if not I do a visual of my blind spot. If the car isn't there, they must have exited and the coast is clear to move into the lane.

As a biker I do a complete scan of the traffic in all areas every 45 seconds or so. Hard for a car to get into my space without being seen that way.
