Do you walk in front or in the back of a car?
Find answers to your legal question.

Do you walk in front or in the back of a car?

im talking about when somebody drops you off somewhere and their car is still on. Are you supposed to walk around the car in the front or the back of it?

Isn't there a guidline for passangers as well? Like a certain place they should be walking such as specifically in front or in back of a car.

I suppose it would depend on how much you trust the driver.

Remember that they could shift into reverse and hit you going around the back also. (They might think they put it into "Park" and got it in "Reverse".)

The best would be to let them go ahead, and get out of the way before you went across.

Either way, don't forget to look for other traffic when stepping out into the street.

I think that depends on where you (the passenger) is sitting in the vehicle. If you are in the passenger side, then you will want to exit the vehicle and find the nearest side walk. Actually the driver should drop the passenger off where there is a safe passage way which is the side walk. If you are in the back seat, you can walk in front or in the back if you choose to. Overall, I think it is the driver's responsibility to ensure that they do not make a move until the passenger has safely crossed and reached their passage way.

Edit: There are no guidelines for passengers as far as where they should walk. As I said, the driver must pay attention at all times. There are no laws that state where a passenger should exit or cross. I think as long as the driver knows what is going on and doesn't make a sudden move then wherever the passenger decides to cross is fine.

Technically the back....

But HEALTH wise, i would walk in the front.
If you get hit by the front, your odds are WAY LESS of having a major injury.
You will be slammed onto the hood and possibily the Front Windshield.
So if your hit, half of your body instantly transfers the energy and you fall on the Hood.
Windshields are part plastic and glass.
They are MEANT to cushion impacts also...in worst case scenario.

The ONLY thing bad about getting hit in Front is...obviously your legs can instantly be snapped or broken.
But this doesn't generally happen since MOST people have the portion of their body weight on their Upper Body, and IMMEDIATELY lose balance and slam and fall on the hood.....so the legs just loose grip from the ground immediately.

If you walk to the rear of the car.
Theres MUCH higher chance the driver cant see you.
Also getting hit by the rear of a car or truck almost Guarantees that you will take ALL of the impact, as there is NOWHERE for your body to move or miss some of the impact, theres just nowhere to transfer the energy to.
THEN you may also get RUN OVER too!!!
