A --YES ALWAYS,even if I'm not wearing one.If asked,I was wearing one..There is many issues on this subject..However,the law is the law..and the insurance companies have a way of dealing with pay outs if not obeying the law.Everyone has a reason for or against wearing one.And all accidents are unique in their own way as to say if had, or if not had, they been wearing one..Maybe like the one who lost their life in the upside down car in a river or one that got thrown from a car before in gone down a 20 ft or more embankment and bursting into flames.I personally would leave it up to the individual making the call..and the dear lord above to protect either way. But, if asked like you have..YES- wear them, because it is the law, and a given privledge to be driving on the roadway. Also, never think only of who is behind the wheel driving with or without, but those passengers who may not have a say in the matter..(the children)... |

A. Although I think it should be a personal choice given the statistics. I would rather not be thrown from my vehicle if in an accident, and for the 2 I've been in, the belt definitely did it's job of restraining me from doing so. However, they are not designed for every type of accident you could possibly be in and could potentially do more harm than good. Ideally, (although I realize not realistically) driver's should be educated enough to make the decision for themselves whether or not to wear the belt. |

A. I've been in some bad ones and got lucky. Seen too many friends who didn't and I hate to go to the funeral home, especially if I'm the guest of honor.
Wear your belts and encourage your friends to do so also.
Trust me on this one. |

Why?
- I was brought up that way, and it is pretty much automatic whenever I get in a vehicle
- Stats prove that they do more good than harm
- oh yeah, and its the the law. |

I ALWAYS wear my seat belt. It saved my life twice.
I was wearing my seat belt before they made it a law.
The first time it happened I was on the highway, going to work, when a big truck took a curve too fast, and dumped it's load on my side of the road. One went in front of my car, one behind, and one over my head. [I was driving a convertible at the time]. >>> The seat belt kept me behind the wheel so I could maneuver around the debrie, instead of sliding across the seat and losing control. >>>
A car behind me wasn't as lucky, the load destroyed his front fender, hood, and windshield.
SO, I believe in seat belts! |

I always wear my seat belt.
1. It's the law
2. It's for my safety
3. My younger brother had an auto accident in 1975. He wasn't wearing a seat belt when the car he was driving rear-ended a semi that suddenly moved from the left lane to the right lane and right into his path. He went through the windshield. He survived the accident with lots of cuts and bruises.
4. I have worn my seat belt ever since. |

a: always now that it is the law but before it was law my answer would have been sometimes. When i was younger there was no seat belt law and a guy made a left in front of my mom and i was in the backseat with with no seat belt and i flew between the bucket seats and hit my head on the metal dashboard of my mom's t-bird. Ouch. Then about 5 yrs ago my daughters best friend got a new car and had it 4 days she dropped my daughter off and went home, 5 houses away, and made a left into her driveway in front of a speeding car. She spun twice and ended up on the lawn across the street from her house. Taught me to wear the seat belt. Plus if i don't wear one it would make my kids think it is OK to go with out one. |

A. Always.
Look, it's gambling. In the vast majority of potential accidents, you're far better off with the seat belt than without.
Yes there are cases where not having a seatbelt might be better. But those are rare.
So ultimately it's a gamble. Like playing blackjack (21) when you have 20. Do you hit or stand? When you look at it seriously there's only one right choice. Yes you could still lose. That's life. |

A. Always Honestly I always wear mine there was one time were I was only walking distance from where I was going that I didnt wear one but I even felt bad about that because Its still breaking the law and I am a law abiding person so thats why I always wear mine and Its not worth getting a ticket and If I was in a wreak maybe it would save my life! =D |

Always. I was in an accident while wearing one, and only sustained bruised ribs. It would have been much worse, had I not been wearing one. |

I used to all the time, then I was t-boned by a lady who wasnt paying attention, who ran a red light going fast and never hitting her brakes at an intersection. I had forgotten for the first time to put on my seat belt and I thank God for that because I would have probably lost my leg, or atleast had it seriously injured, while receiving the injuries that I did. And being trapped in a vehicle that could catch fire as well.
The injuries I got was a couple of cuts from the glass, and my head being part of what caused it to break, and a concusion because my head also hit the door rail and front windshield. But I walked away from it, and I am so happy that the stupid *** ******* ***** that hit me recieved a ticket and a higher insurance rate. I am just so ******* happy about her punishment, I am being sarcastic, hopefully you caught on to that. But thats how I feel about it now a days. |

1. It's the law in California to wear one's seatbelt even when sitting in the backseat. And while the fine is only 20 dollars, that's still good money wasted.
2. My parents were big sticklers on seatbelt usage when I was little, and it's just a habit that's stuck with me ever since.
3. That dinging sound is f-ing annoying. :)
4. I was in a wreck last year and my seatbelt kept me from going through the windshield. |
