Air bags didn't come around until like..late eighties, early nineties. If that's not a good enough answer for you, then i'll simply say, "No"

Air bags were first introduced in the late SIXTIES!!!! but because of safety concerns they were shelved until the late eighties until technology and safety made them worthy of use

No, airbags werent a "safety issue" way back then and didt emerge until the 80's and early 90's when it really started becoming a mandatory thing
