Does getting a speeding ticket show up on your insurance?

I guess I should be glad I have the insurance that I do.
It didn't change a bit.
I even told my agent the whole story when I renewed my policy this afternoon.

The speeding ticket shows up on your state's driving record, and the insurance company has access to that any time they want to look it up.

Not neccessarily, if your vehicle is caught by 'Photo Radar' it cannot be proved who was operating the motor vehicle, but the registered owner is liable (what happened to being innocent until proved guilty)?

kenbgray
It sure does. It will make your rates go up.

They review your records all the time and yes it will cause your rates to go up. It is always better to take a class to keep it off your record- if available in your state.

Yes. You can avoid it from going on by getting the courts ok to take a traffic school class.http://www.TicketRelief.com

Yes. Speeding tickets and violations do show up, and they cause our insurance to increase. Anytime you get a traffic violation, it increases your insurance, and it is also recorded on your drivers record. The more violations you get, the higher your insurance rates, and the more points may be against your license, causing a license suspension and possibly having to go through drivers education again.

Not if the ticket is for 9 miles or less over the speed limit. As far as rates go.... It all depends on the insurance company. Ours didn't go up. And for anyone thinking about being a hypocrite...... lol. Everyone speeds at one time or another. EVERYONE. Whether by accident or not.

ALSO... If you show up for traffic court... you can prtest the ticket. They usually give you 30 days (to be ticket free) and then it is wiped away.

No, But if you get a ticket you need to report it to your insurance company,If they do a check on your license and find it they can cancel you ,So it is best to let them know right away ,Read your policy I think you will find that you have a certain amount of time to report it to them. Also if you try to switch insurance they will run a DVM check and it will come up.

emtboy9
Yes it will. If you are under 25 and especially male, prepare to pay for your ticket for the next 5 years or so. That's about how long it stays on your insurance record.

And here's an example for you.

Before I got married, I had full coverage on one car, and liability only on a second car. I paid about 60 bucks a month for the two of them.

I got married and added my wife to my insurance, and she had a couple speeding tickets and one wreck.

So at that point, for full coverage on two cars and liability only on one car, I was paying 3600.00 per year, 1800 every six months, or 300 bucks a month roughly.

Yes if you just pay it and forget about it.

No if you take a defensive driving course.

Yes it does and to answer the next question you are going to post, yes it is going to raise your premiums.

The insurance company can look it up, but if you just carry over your previous policy with no changes, most likely they won't know about it. Keep your present insurance and let the policy just renew when the term is up and you should be fine. In the event they do find out, your rates will probably rise, but as long as you weren't going like 100mph or have multiple other violations it shouldn't be TOO bad.
