Does my baby need to be turned around in his car seat?

well my 7 month old is 23 lbs and he is about 29.5 inches long hes huge, and we are buying him a new car seat ...is it time to turn him around in the backseat

NO! Infants under 1 yr of age is required to stay facing to the back.

No - the recommendation is at least 1 year old AND 20 pounds. Just because your baby is big, it doesn't mean he is ready to be front facing. Check out the link in source. Your baby should stay rear facing for 5 more months.

No. The laws vary by state, but most are 1 year AND 20 pounds. More importantly is the safety of rear vs. forward facing. Most convertible seats rearface to 30-35 pounds and it is reccomended that you keep your child rearfacing that long. My son is almost two and is still happily rearfacing.
The reason that age is so important has to do with spinal development. The spinal column is not properly fused to the skull until at least the age of two, sometimes longer. Force that would cause a broken neck in an adult can cause internal decapitation in a small child, which is just as deadly as it sounds.

i was told by the hospital, my doctor and other websites and i also got info in the mail about when u can turn the carseats around and all of them said anytime after 21lbs
