some say it does and some people say thats a load of bull so i don't know if it does or not. thx :]

The myth says "yes," but real scientific research says "no." In fact, there has never been a confimed incident where this has EVER happened. People hear stories, but they always turn out to be stories they have heard or read about.
It just doesn't happen.
What DOES happen is that a static electrical spark CAN set off gasoline fumes when a driver touches the pump handle. But it is NOT the cell phone that generates the spark. It is the driver sliding his butt across the seat, getting out of the car that can do this. It almost always happens when a driver starts the fueling, gets back INTO the car, and then gets out of the car again to disconnect the pump handle.

There is always a lot of confusion about this subject. most of it urban myth, but fuelled by many signs on garage forecourts stating that mobile (cell) phones should not be used.
The reason for these signs is that if you are using a mobile phone whilst filling up your car with fuel, you are not concentrating on the task in hand.
and whilst pumping gallons of flamable liquid, you really ought to be concentrating!!
There is no research to suggest that a phone would explode, but there is plenty to suggest it won't explode. |

Just be careful about where you put out your cigarette while you're yakking on the thing, as if the conversation is more important than whatever you're doing.
I watched some Princess jaw jacking on the phone one day while she was gassing up. You should have seen the look on her face when she realized she pumped more gas than she had money to pay for.
