On the news all i have heard is how 'Britain' goes to pot when there is snow, which in some ways is true!
But where i live everything runs pretty smoothly, yes the schools close but that is only because 2 of them are on big hills which is dangerous for pupils to walk down & cars / buses to travel up & down.
People still travel but the roads are Alot less busy than normal which is understandable if parents stay home to look after there children.
The residents grit the roads and seem to all pull together, so it doesn't affect us all that much.
Because we don't get snow like this much it is going to affect the country but i also think the news take it a bit over the top.
But then this just might be my area that stays running smoothly? Additional Details Yes Chaos, sorry.

Snow only turns ENGLAND into chaos.
Here in Scotland, we have snow on a regular basis and we have learnt to cope with it, without the PANIC that abounds in our southern neighbours.
The snow levels now falling in England fell in parts of Scotland last month and, even now, the snow is far deeper in parts of Scotland than anywhere in England. But do you hear about that on the news? No! Because being able to cope like mature adults is not news. On the other hand, the sight of the English running around like headless chickens seems to attract the attention of the media.
In reality, the English have become the laughing stock of mainland Europe, where conditions are far worse than the comparative light dusting of snow laying over England. |

No. Our area has plows and crews on staff to take care of the snow every winter. |

yeah the news takes it a bit too far which encourages everyone one else too blow it out of proportion. i was watching the news and they had a live report in london about how the buses were canceled and they were talking like there was 5ft of snow when it looked as if there was 2-3 inches i think its because we dont get much snow as the winters get milder when we do people just cant cope and look for the easy options no wonder we lost the empire when we cant deal with a bit of snow |

i agree with you some are genuine but some use it as an excuse, my boss's wife didnt come to work because she was slipping in a four wheel drive, i had to wait nearly half hour for a bus and the drivers had to drive miles with the goods regardless ...but she couldnt get there ...makes me so angry |

Well my area doesn't do too bad... in my town everything was pretty normal. Schools were open etc, no road closures. But maybe they knew the sun was gonna come and melt the snow. However, across the county about 60 schools were closed, so clearly it was an issue there. To be honest, there wasn't even that much snow. In a country such as Canada, this would be nothing. It's only because we aren't used to this kind of weather that things don't run smoothly.
I love the snow personally! |

Yes it does. A lot. It isn't even that deep where I am. |

It wasn't too bad in my area, but I'm fed up with the amount of stick Britain gets from other countries for the chaos that snow causes. We aren't accustomed to snow because we never get it! What's the point of investing millions in snow plows etc if we only to have to use them once a decade. |
