Don't people driving and talking on the cell phone make you want to kill them?

I will be glad when they make a law banning people from using cell phones while driving. They are dangerous.

Absolutely. It just amazes me how other drivers can spot mobile phone users, but the Police can't - there's never a Police car about when I spot one! Lorry drivers seen to be the worst offenders and usually going round roundabouts - how dangerous is that?

Kind of harsh killing everyone with cell phones held to there heads. Hey if it will lessen traffic I am for it! Study's show distracted drivers account for over 30% of all traffic accidents

ln Australia it is against the law to drive while using a moblie. But ignorant drivers still disobey the law.

When I see people weaving in and out of thier lane, not using turn signals, disobeying traffic laws and then I see a cell phone, yes, it makes me very angry. But not for the reason you may think. It's because THEY ARE RUINING IT FOR THE REST OF US!

I just answered another question along these lines.

The problem with cell phones is too many people have the things anymore! There are also a lot of bad drivers on the road as well. So with cell phone use at an all time high, the problem becomes that you see bad driving, so you look; and sure enough you may well see a cell phone! The natural tendency is to blame the phone for the bad driving. Me personally? I'd blame the driver! I also see plenty of people driving just fine and take a second look and see a cell phone there too.

Do we penalize good drivers for the idiot who probably can't walk and chew gum at the same time?

And what devices do we ban along with the phone? Blackberries too? Laptops? If we ban those things, then what's next? CB Radios? On-Star? GPS devices? Radios? Go ahead, legislate everything, before long it will be illegal to be seen talking to a passenger.

It's really this simple. A driver who is weaving over the lines on the road, not signaling, or otherwise driving recklessly and irresponsibly needs to be pulled over and cited, cell phone or not. A law enforcement officer shouldn't have to have a "cell phone" law to cite drivers who are driving like that even IF they were talking on the phone while doing it, and last I checked, they didn't!

Bad drivers are bad drivers, cell phone or not. Enforce the laws on the books. We really don't need a whole new series of "common sense" laws.

The rule is already present.Just that a bunch of dumb idiots who want to kill themselves and others use it while driving without being caught makes it seem that a law isn't present already.
I wouldn't want to kill them, I'd like to challenge them to stand in the middle of the road trying to stop me while I drive his car while talking on my phone..
Let's see how he responds then.He would be running for his life or cursing me badly.
People turn for the good only after experiencing the effects themselves. And not when told/lectured about.

No unless their driving is erratic. Some people still can't drive good even without a cell phone.

Talking on the phone is bad enough, but these idiots are also sending text messages!!! I can tell when someone is on the cell phone before I see them just by their erratic driving. Chicago has a $200 fine which is great, but worthless if not enforced. If they are going to impose laws against it, they need to enforce it. Can you imagine the money that can be made from fines? Couple of plain cars picking off offenders could probably make enough money in one day to pay their salary for weeks!!!

YES...........................

I can always tell when I'm behind someone who is on the phone. They're not paying attention. They speed up, they slow down, they change lanes unexpectedly.

You see them weaving and driving very slowly, It's very similar to the impact of someone under the influence.

People who drive car they are rich so they do not bothered about fine that may be of any amount. But if any rule to debar them from driving for at least two months then they might understand because they are habitual to drive car and once they would be debarred then they might stop talking on mobile while driving.

Its already against the law in the UK. But from reading above, a lot of people seem to be taking as much notice of it as they are in Australia. Idiots!!!!!
