I don't know for certain, but 12 hours seems fair to me-especially if he's drinking until 3 or 4 a.m. Maybe look on an alcohol-related website for more info on how long alcohol stays in the body. |

Hello,
(ANS) He should leave it at least 24hrs until its safe to drive again, most people don't fully appreciate (especially those that drink) just how long it takes the body to fully metabolyse alcohol through the kidneys & liver.
**NOTE:- You CANNOT drink & drive safely there is no such thing!! if you have had ANY alcohol then your not safe to drive in my opinion. There is no such thing as a safe limit.

alchohol takes an hour per unit 2 leave ur system so it depends on how many units he's drank counting from the time he finished his last drink of the night, so if someone goes on the full bender than even the following evening they kd still b over the limit and there4 still get done and treated lyk any drink driver if driving or in charge of a vehicle whilst over the limit (even if u feel no effect wtsoever)
so best way 2 work it out is 2 count an hour for each unit of alcohol he drinks and add those hours 2 the time he finishes his last drink of the night |

1 hr for each unit, 4 units IS NOT the safe drink drive limit, there is no set units for driving with alcohol, the limit is mg per litre of blod s o is individual to each person |

Ginny is right, 1 unit per hour.
So if he has been drinking 2 units per hour for 6 hours say 10pm till 4am) thats 12 units. So 12 hours.
4 units is the drink drive limit so he shouldn't drive until at least midday and even that is risky.
Of course many people will drink 20 or 30 units in a night... |

Why don't you do your friends partner a favor and call the police on him so that when he goes out the next day drunk he wont kill someone or himself....... |

Hi there.
Better safe than sorry, 12 hours would be a good safe time.
To test your theories, buy or borrow a personal breath tester then see what it tells you - should settle the argument once and for all.
Cheers, Steve. |

If you think he is still drunk when he enters that vehicle, for the sake of the children, the mothers, the witnesses and so he does not have to re-live over and over and over again the thump of the child on his car, report him if he does not listen to reason.
Ask him if he ever notices flowers tied to lampposts or trees and what they mean.
I would say 48 hours before driving again, as this is what is recommended as a break before you drink again by the UK government. See first sentence in the centre, pale grey: http://units.nhs.uk/howMany.html
Oh and I choose my friends wisely, if they react in a negative way, they will no longer be friends of mine. I would not want to associate with potential child killers, because once I point out the risk, they are no longer ignorant of the facts and have chosen to put others at risk.
However, if you are young and fear their reaction, do not say anything to them and just report it anonymously 0800 555 111 (crimestoppers) never repeat to anyone that it was you to keep yourself safe and those whom he encounters while driving with alcohol still in his system safe.
Do not choose me as best answer, if that is what you are going to do, just in case and blessings for being brave.

Your body can process the stuff in the wine/beer in an hour, but you can still get an aftershock. Wait until you're completely calm. |
