Driving face on towards a 2 way speed camera?

I was driving towards a 2 way speed camera. It was facing me lens on, not the normal yellow and red markings on the back of them. So i was on the other side of the road if you like.
It was in a 70. I was doing over 70, but under 80. I didn't even see the camera because it's Grey and the makings are on the back. Just as i noticed the makings on the road i hit the breaks. I'm not sure if i was flashed. It was sunny.
I've heard that they can't get out on the other side of the road, but there were making on there, and the camera was situated in the middle part. I've also heard that it's an invasion of privacy if they flash you head on, rather than the rear.
My two years of driving just happens to be a month today, so if i do get a ticket, and i hold off, will i be ok?

I live in Scotland uk.
If you can imagen a 70 dual carriage way type thing, with 2 lanes on each side. It was a Gatso camera in the center part of of the dual carriage way. I came to it face on in the right hand lane (Closest to the camera).
If i do get 3 points and hold off until the very last day (28 days is it?) it would mean i would have been driving for 2 years and have a total of 12 points to play with. Would then say that i only had 6 points when the offense happened, and thus ban me, or what?

Where in the world are you?
The general rule here in the UK is that a speed camera is on the side of the road it applies to, so if it was on the opposite side of the road you should be OK. However, I have seen them flash when there's only been oncoming traffic and even when there is no traffic around at all.
Front-facing cameras are permitted here in the UK and that seems to be the favoured option now. This is great for me when I'm out on my bike. |
