Driving lesson advice?

My sons girlfriend is taking driving lessons (15 lessons so far) and wants to take her car out to get extra experience, my son says he go out in her car with her, he passed his test 3 years ago and is 20, how does he stand with the law with this?

I think you need to be 21. I'll edit this shortly if I'm wrong...

[Edit] - sorry, you do need to be 21 and have had a licence for at least 3 years

http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leaflets/ins57p.pdf

p.s. He'll not be the one breaking the law - it will be his girlfriend, so technically he'll be fine...

Phoenix
i think he has to be over 21 and driving for 3 years

You have to be 21 years old and have a full license of which has been hold for 3 years. so he will have to wait a little longer to take her out and it doesnt matter how many lessons she has had

The stipulation surrounding this is that the person taking the learner out must be over 21 and hold a valid full UK driving license for three years, so he can't until he is 21.

You have to be 21 to accompany a learner drive and also to have held your licence for at least three years.

its illegal to drive without a license but as she is trying to improve her skill going to less busy areas will do. Oh and try avoid the cops if she can!

gently push the inspector back and say excuse me if he sits forward at all so you can see the rear left mirror, and check your mirrors every 8-11 secs, main reason for people failing is mirrors!

Most states say a "permitted driver" must have a licensed adult who is 21 years of age or older in the car with them.

if ur sons girlfriend is really known to drive well then let her go to enjoy but to stay a guardian is the most imp. so send ur son with her as she does not get any fear due to her best thing in the world

You need to have held a licence for a minimum of 4 years, and the car needs to be insured to buy the learner and the teacher, I also think you have to be over 21 too.
