Driving on a two lane narrow road?

Anybody have any tips? I'm a new driver and the thing I least want is to hurt someone or damage someone's other car.
I can't help but get so nervous. I've been told to drive to the side (but, I get so scared because I'm close to the parked cars). I've also been told to stay in the middle and if an oncoming car comes, just slightly make way for the other driver to pass.
I don't know which one to do due to the fact that I'm criticized for doing either one.
Help?

i used to get that way when i started to drive , all i can say is try slowing down when you fell that you might get in a tight spot , also get the fell of your steering so you know how much to turn your steering wheel to make your car turn even if its just to move your car over one foot that way you will be more comfortable with control of your vehical . and the best thing is practice just don't give up it takes months to to get tghe hang of it it took me longer then that when i went into a city . so good luck |

Drive in the middle of your lane, look at the oncoming car & if it is over the center line on your side pull to the side far enough so that there is not an accident otherwise stay where you are. Experience will stop your nervousness, "Don't worry be happy". |

You are more likely to hit somebody or a parked car rather than the oncoming vehicle. Most people dont pay attention when parked. They stop, unhook the belt and throw the door open. I suggest you stay in the middle of the lane. The oncoming vehicle doesnt want to hit you just as much as you dont want to hit them. And while you are doing that, pay attention for the Chowder Heads opening up that door they want removed. Good luck, and pay attention. Your confidence will build with time behind the wheel. Driving is all about multi-tasking. Every road has its special problems that you will have to adjust to. |

Lots of practice in an area where there aren't a lot of parked cars might make you feel better. It isn't unusual to be nervous, but my suggestion is to stay towards the middle because you are located on that side of the car and move over a little when there is an oncoming car. Relax, you will be fine! |
