I've made a little list :D
1. The examiner is not as scary as you might expect them to be, they are expecting you to be nervous and will be easier on you because of it. Apparently some of my friends even got a little bit of advice whilst on their test from their tester, not much, but it helped them.
2. The test isn't actually that long, you're only actually driving for about 40minutes and that includes your two maneuvers - and it actually seems like less than that.
3. If you make a mistake, completely forget about it and focus on what is coming next along the road. (i.e. don't debate in your head whether it was a major or a minor, just put it out of your mind. Let your examiner worry about majors and minors) Just focus on what's in front of you, otherwise you might make an even bigger error.
4. If you get your questions on maintenance of the car wrong, it doesn't matter. The worst they can do is give you one minor, it's not even worth worrying about, most of the questions are pretty simple anyway (e.g. how would you check the horn? HONK HONK)
5. Be cautious, you get a minor for holding back too long, whereas you get majors for going too early. Be more reserved and less compulsive.
6. Don't worry if you do a really messy bay park, on my test mine was probably one of the worst i've ever done, I had to pull out and start it again. (I didn't even get a minor for that!)
7. Try to ignore what they are saying to you whilst driving. They talk to you as you go along (they probably think it relaxes you, but actually it is very distracting) give one-word replies and don't give any of your brainpower to talking to your examiner. They're marking you on your driving, not on how you can carry on a conversation.
But most importantly, when you get in the car for your test, forget everything I've just said and just drive, drive as if you were going to the shops - and think of the examiner as someone you're simply giving a lift to.
Hope this helps. |

Yes, don't listen to all the 'well meaning 'advice which people give you about how to drive. Its far too late to try and take it all in. Best thing you can do is try not to worry about the examiner, he is not worried about you and he will definitely want you to pass. I know this sounds crazy but have been an examiner for 32 years I can appreciate how you are feeling.
Just take your time during the first few moments of the test and you will soon forget the examiner is there and everything should go fine.
Best of luck. |

When i took my test i just thought as it as i was like a taxi driver who didn't know where he was going and needed directions.I passed first time.Suppose the only good answer to give is try and relax and don't think about what the minors are.Keep your head clear, thinking about minors will distract you.Good Luck |

you use the mirrors to see others drivers and hazards from either the rear, near side and off side, while driving forward you look for other traffic and people, stop when required to do so,using the lower base of your mirrors can give you a guide to stopping at a cross roads or traffic island ,prepare to stop before reaching the halt / stop line then use your base line on off side mirror to make your stop a good one, line it up with the line on the road, apply hand brake, put gear lever into natural, make sure you put your seat belt on before starting the engine |

Be calm. Drive the speed limit, stop on every stop sign, and before you pulled out at the driving place you need to look if somebodys comin' you need to stop there. always turn your blinker everytime you turn... And do you know how to parallel park because thy might ask you for that.. |

Just try and stay calm and be cautious. Don't be too upset if you fail first time, I didn't pass til my 4th test! |

Well when i took my test... remember to signal every time you turn, check you mirrors(use them), come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Pretend that the instructor is not there, Use the hand over hand steering, proper hand placement and that is all i can think of! |

all you have to do is drive like you do with your instructor
you know you can pass so go on and show the examiner, dont be afraid of him/her they are only human and have a job to do thats it
GOOD LUCK YOU CAN DO IT !!!!!!!!!! |

a dvla driving inspector came to my coleg, he explained a few things but he said that all inspectors know you are nervous. just try your best and if you make one tiny mistake, like; hit the curb then dont worry just carry on. (most people fail because they dot learn from what they have done and feel there is no point). according to him just
1. try not to make any mistakes
2. if you do carry on
3.trust in you ability
4.minors such as hitting the curb.

This will sound silly but the first thing is to try and relax a bit don't get tensed up or you will make mistakes and if you have conveniences in yourself then everything will be ok good look with it |

think of the examiner as a different instructor, ignore the clipboard on his/her lap, drive as you would on a normal lesson, take your time on your reversing etc good luck ! |

So long as you have an early night tonight, stop fretting about it, and just chillax for the evening, all should be fine.
All will be better if you have a driving test before the test! |
