you can buy flares at an auto store to flag someone down at night (5 dollars tops)

you can put a small bag of kitty litter so you can put under the tire in the winter for traction if your stuck

you can put a tow rope in ther so if your stuck someone can pull your out of the ditch

You need at least a gallon of anti-freeze and a gallon of windshieldwiper solvent. Need a shovel. Cell phone. Spare tire and jack. Emergency rode service number and a place you can call to tow your vehicle. An extra belt. Non perishable snacks and plenty of water. Regular blankets and pillows.

Road flares, a spare tire and the tools to change one (learn to do this as well), a AAA card, one of those battery powered cell phone chargers (you can find them at most drugstores, walmart, target, etc).

I couldn't find a Macbook powercord for the car but you can buy a power inverter. It is basically a wall outlet that you plug into your cigarette lighter. Any thing that runs of the electric power outlet will eventually flatten the battery. You could run the engine to keep it charged, but then you'll only end up draining the tank.

We had a sudden fall of snow here a few years back that caught the authorities with their pants down. The motorway past town got blocked and traffic ended up stuck there all night. The biggest problem for the emergency services in the morning was not clearing the snow and ice but moving all the vehicles that had suddenly run out of gas because people had left their engines running all night to keep warm.

Ditch the electric blanket and get a sleeping bag instead. This will be plenty warm enough and won't run down your battery. Carry some bottled water and some food that won't spoil (dried fruit or cereal bars would be fine). Keep your cell phone charged up and all your emergency contact number stored in the memory.

You don't need an electric blanket because you won't have power to turn it on. You should have a disposable camera (in case your in an accident), a small toolbox with a screwdriver set, and fuses in it, jumper cables, car jack, spare tire, bottle of water, I always keep 2 or 3 blankets in the back, a jacket, maybe a set of clean clothes, I always also keep something sharp in the back in case your ever stuck in your truck you can cut into the wires and make them stop working and then they would get pulled over. rope, an umbrella, and maybe a snacky food. I keep everything in a tote in the back of my car so it's not all lose back there. You can purchase a computer charger that plugs into the lighter at Best Buy for $150.00, my husband and I both purchased one last year, they are universal and come with like 20 different attachments to work for all computers no matter what kind that you have. I would also put in there a gas can incase you ever run out of gas.

Mac computer charger: At dollar tree, we got this outlet thing that plugs into the cigarette lighter and you can plug any wall socket into that. works great for laptops :]

Also, keep Advil or headache medicine in your car because you will constantly be liek "dammit gotta buy another bottle of advil just cuz its all at home..." so just keep one in your car just in case. And keep a seat belt slasher and a glass / window breaker in your car too if your First Aid kit doesn't come with it, because if you drive into a lake or something you will need to cut the seatbelt and break the window fast!
