You may only drive 11 hours then you must take a 10 hour break.If you split the 10 hour break one of the breaks must be at least 8hrs. It is not a 14 hour driving rule it means that you can only work 14 hours (driving or loading/unloading) in a 24 hour period . For example if you come on duty at 8am you cannot work past 10 pm. |

Drivers may drive up to 11 hours in the 14-hour on-duty window after they come on duty following 10 or more consecutive hours off duty.
The 14-hour on-duty window may not be extended with off-duty time for meal and fuel stops, etc.
The prohibition on driving after being on duty 60 hours in 7 consecutive days, or 70 hours in 8 consecutive days, remains the same, but drivers can "restart" the 7/8 day period anytime a driver has 34 consecutive hours off duty.
CMV drivers using the sleeper berth provision must take at least 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper berth, plus 2 consecutive hours either in the sleeper berth, off duty, or any combination of the two.
simply put you have 14 hours to use 11 of those driving - 4 loading
how ever since there are a lot of shippers and recivers dont care about how long it takes them to get to you.

ok say you went on duty at 3am you have 14 hrs to do what u have to do for the day u have to b shut down at 5pm(14hrs) say u got to load unload get fuel eat etc. and still drive the hours u have for the day. sometimes u can get loade and unloaded pretty fast. i have sit in a dock for 18 hours getting dogfood unloaded at a walmart dist. center sit 9 hrs b4 getting pillows unloaded at the same place also. |
