Fail to stop assured clear distance?

Can anybody give me the actual definition of this, in Michigan?

Not maintaining a safe and clear distance ahead of your vehicle at any speed, and under any road surface condition ( wet, icy or snow covered), sufficient to permit you to stop safely without leaving your traffic lane, which results in your vehicle striking any object which is stationary in the roadway or striking any vehicle which is either stationary or moving slowly in your traffic lane.

You need to leave a safe following distance from you and the car ahead of you. If the car ahead of you stops sudden, you should be prepared to stop in time.

You did not stop it a clear and or safe area ahead of you.
