For the SUV rollovers, safety?

The SUV Roll overs are caused by the short wheel base and the high top of the vehicle. If you take a corner at 90 MPH, which you shouldnt do to begin with in an suv, Gravity will pull the top to the side, and the short wheel base will allow it to continue. However I do believe that if the wheels and shafts were extended further out making it wider, it would counter balance for the top being so high and the G force.

as for hummers, I used to ride in them in the Army. I would like an Army hummer, not the pieces of junk off a dealership lot.

Is it coincidence that almost all SUV rollovers are of Asain descent? Any german engineered SUV (w/ a sports pack option - BMW X5 4.4i or or Cayenne) will corner just fine above 90mph. If you'd like to roll, buy a Toyota forerunner.

You are partially correct in that SUVs are more likely to roll over due to the higher center of gravity. However, there is also the factor of human error. People need to hang up their cell phones, put away the makeup, put down the coffee, et cetera, and pay attention and drive sensibly. All the safety features in the world don't help if you don't pay attention when you're driving.

It would, but it wouldn't be road-legal, and the extra width wouldn't fit in many situations, on road and off. SUVs made for real off-roading are narrow to fit through tight trails. However the type of vehicle you describe would be ideal and has already been made for the Baja 1000 desert race, possibly the only practical application for such a vehicle. If you just want to corner at high speed, get a sports car.

I'm studying automotive engineer , i worked as a mechanic, i seen a lot of technology in cars now these days such as crash box that is lowering the impact on the cargo. and lots of cars that re design for older peoples and SUV are improving daily . well the only thing i didn't see so far is a simple solution for roll over . here is my invention that i sent to national road safety department in accident division ,
if an SUV about to roll over on the driver side we should have something like a sensor when there is a certain pressure or the car is about to angel to one side why don't the other side of the car (passenger side ) go flat , that way it would be less roll over .and less roll over pressure on the (driver side) .plus the SUV tire are mostly 70.(215/70/16)if u know what i mean that mean the tire is high so when the passenger side go flat Ur bringing it down very well .

They do make that type of SUV. It's called a Hummer. The average person driving there kids to school or picking up a paper doesn't need a SUV.
