For those of you who drive an SUV because its safe....u give a crap about other drivers?

Ya know............I drove a friend's SUV the other day just to pickup coffee at the drive-thru.............I think a person develops a "personality" when driving a pickup truck or an SUV, heck even a Tractor Trailer unit in some cases..............the advertising shows these S U V's swerving and taking on hills of dirt and winning the challenges every time.
The problem is..........they are big! Some people feel "big and powerful" driving them. I know I felt "different" than I did driving my little Honda Civic. And, because they are "big", they require more refined "handling"............the average person doesn't possess the skills necessary to operate an SUV at the speeds they travel down the highways......IN RAIN, ON SNOW........all most of them know is that they have 4 wheel drive (huh?), and anti lock brakes (what?)..........and therefore can go anywhere fast............I think they forgot to mention that these SUV's don't have "autopilot".......
hmmmm, let's see.......heavier vehicle, higher center of gravity..........ahhh the demise of common sense ?

Well Moses,,, perhaps you could have refrazed your question and comment differently, so as not to affend everyone that drives an SUV. Some of us have to use an SUV, and no we are not ALL inconsiderate, (or as inconsiderate as the person posing the question ). Obviously you have issues with 'gas hog' type vehicles, believe me, I would not drive one if I had other options.
Have you not noticed how rude other vehicle drivers are? It isnt just SUV owners, everyone can be an *** and it doesnt matter what kind of vehicle they are driving.
Sweeping generalizatons are also very dangerous! Perhaps your comment could have been geared towards the inconsiderate person that pissed you off, instead of all of us.
I am sorry someone pissed you off or was inconsiderate to you, but you are following their footsteps in being inconsiderate to others. Think about it, can we use the word hypocrite here?

i use my truck for work (i don't think a honda prelude would b able to pull a 15,000 lb trailer)
with me its practical, the advantage is when A**HOLES like u get in my way i get to create another speed bump!!!

some people have good reason for driving one you can not put every one in one box. I have a problem with people that drive small cars and think everyone needs to think just like them

How about getting a better education and then a better job so you can stop whining.

P.S. Pokey, I agree that the majority of those bellyaching about large vehicles cannot AFFORD one, so they cry.

I drive a 20mpg, 6 cylinder Suzuki Grand Vitara. A much higher view than the two-seater Toyota MR-2 I used to drive. This better view is also better for the other drivers-so there.
You, on the other hand, probably tailgate.
One car length distance for every 10 mph.

He said "because its safe", not because you have a lot of cargo or some other reason. I agree that they are only thinking about themselves though.
