you mean they don't ?....i agree...four wheeler driver here....but it is a case of individual vehicles and not all cars. When you see cars speeding past a trooper doing 80 in a 65....it's not entirely the troopers fault....sometimes they are "dummies".....

WHEN THEY ARE ALL DEAD FROM A BIG TRUCK RUNNING THEM OVER!!!!

Never, the driver of today, and I am speaking of this new, younger generation have no respect for the rules of the road. They were not taught that it takes a loaded semi traveling at 60 mph the length of a football field or better to come to a complete stop. An like a few people have already stated, everything we buy at the store takes a ride at least on one truck in its journey to the store.

Hopefully when the each state starts giving written or driving skills test each time a person has to renew their drivers license. That way bad habits might be changed for the better. Be better if each person didn't know if they would have to take a written or driving test, they would have to be prepared. Most people don't seem to know that we are supposed to signal each time we change lanes. I could go on but I think you get the point. I don't think the bureaucrats would go for it though, they couldn't pass the test either. From a long haul truck driver, taheshewah 41.

I'm afraid it will be after you truck drivers crush a few more of the dumber ones. At least then the local news will run some more public safety segments.

NOT IN OUR LIFETIME!

When our local law enforcement cracks down on the idiots out here driving.

It will be a long time, just look at the slack jawed burger flippers, fry dunking self centered non English speaking or reading general public that you find in the DVM take there driver test the the forth or fifth time. These are the same fools that are messing up the highways, not just for truck drivers but everybody.
If there was just one rule or principal i could give it would be even if you think you a right just do not be dead right.
Till that happen I and every body els should just drive a defensively. Yep once again those that are responsible need to look out for those who are not, weather it is driving or taxes and the rest of there lives.

When the police are less pre-occupied with speeders, and seat-belt infractions, and start paying attention to the issues like you described. I drive an old '87 Corolla and most 4-wheelers drive like they would prefer to drive over me rather than around me! Now I have my own pay-back weapon. When they are tail-gating me, with their bright lights in my face through my rear view mirror, I flip my switch, and the maniac driver is blinded by my Motor Trend 5,000,000 Candle Power light mounted in the rear view seat! They back off reeeaaaalll quick! Nice guys do finish last! It's hard not to be intimidated in a merge instance like you refer to....Macho drivers won't change when they are on a power trip!
