i just got a 97 Ford Escort LX, and the gas pedal is SOOOO touchy i BARELY touch it and i get whiplash, my dad also said it was extremely sensitive....if possible, is there a way to adjust the gas pedal so it's not so touchy, can i take it to a mechanic to fix???? i really hope i don't have to get used to this cause i'm afraid i'll have an accident...

Keep your heel back, and use a gentle pressure of just your toes to press the gas pedal.....get used to the feel of it that way because you have more control........a lot of drivers press the ball of their foot on the pedals which causes a more sudden reaction.When your vehicle is in Drive or Reverse gear, just removing your foot from the brake will cause your vehicle to move, so when close to objects or other vehicles, ride your brake. If you need the gas, use just a bit of pressure and return your foot to the brake. Safety first!!! |

Have you local mechanic check the throttle body and cable first and then have him scan the vehicles computer and make sure that everything is working correctly... |
