Handy Things to Keep in Your Car?

I'm going on a roadtrip in a couple weeks, and I was wondering what I should keep in my car just in case something does happen. I already have: oil, pressure checker, flashlight, first aid kit. What else should I add to the list?

Blanket and pillow, food that you can eat without having to prepare it (and it won't go bad; like chips), water (both for you to drink in case of emergencies but also for you to pour into your radiator), sunscreen lotion, a disposable camera, spare tire, car jack, jumper cables, and a phone charger that will fit into your cigarette lighter.
If you don't know how to jump a car or change a tire then you should also bring instructions on how to do it, as well as phone numbers for your insurance agency if it's not on any insurance cards. |

make sure you have your spare tire, a lug wrench, and a jack. also, blankets are always a good thing to have in the trunk. another good idea is a camera, it's good to have pictures for the insurance in case you get in an accident. |

can of fix a flat, or a 12 volt air compressor or both. Cheap rain poncho, an extra flashlight (yes an extra) Transmission fluid appropriate for your car. A spare map. (even if you have a gps, bring a map.)
A small pack of fuses. $20 packed in with the emergency supplies. And most importantly if you plan on doing any traveling you need a towel. |

This is sort of scary, but I live in Florida so I keep a pair of scissors and a hammer in my glove box.
The scissors are for cutting off my seat belt in an event of an emergency.
The hammer is for busting out my window if necessary. (For example, if I crash and land in water...)
