Has anyone ever had their vehicle brakes fail while driving?

Yeah, the brake pad was so worn down that it fell off when I was stopping at a red light. Luckily, there wasn't anybody there at that time of night and was able stop after pumping all the brake fluid out.

Someone once cut thru my brake pipes, i waited until 3 am b4 driving back. It was an unpleasant experience.

I was driving a dump truck full of caliche and the steel brake lines broke as I was about to enter an intersection on a divided highway. I picked out the car about to turn left across my lane as the unlucky one that I was going to slam into. He must live right because he stopped for the yellow light and I went through the intersection and turned onto the median.

Yea. I was coming over a bridge while it was raining. When I hit the brakes the car didn't stop and went in to the other lane of traffic. Thank God that traffic was slow. I would have been a goner.

yes but the vehicle was a standard so i was able to control it.

No, but the ABS light comes on whenever it wants to, and I don't know why.

yes going down a hill i mashed the brake it went to the floor. i had to slamb it in park to stop wrecked my transmission but i did not hit the house at the bottem of the hill.

Well, I always keep my vehicle in good shape even my car is old...

But you can us the hand brakes and shift it to lower gear...

If it is a stick it is saver and easier to stop the car...

Yes, and what I learned so many year s prior in drivers training kicked in, I went up a curb on a angle & pulled the emergancy brake it worked right away

I got hit in Bangor Maine last month be one of the locals who's ''brakes failed'' (he did'nt have any ).

that is a very rare event that can happen to anyone, whether it is from an old or a new car. never yet happend to me, but it once happend to my mother, who was driving a brand new ford expedition, but fortunately only resulted to a minor accident with another driver.

ONCE! Long ago. I was on the inside lane, passing a car, going up hill. At the crest, a car in front of me was stopped trying to make a left turn. I tried to slow down (brake) and the peddle went straight to the floor! (I had an olive in my mouth and all of a sudden, swallowed it--I guess clearing the decks for action!) The only thing I could do was jam the accelerator to the floor and luckily, had enough "umph" and just enough space to squeeze between, back in the right-hand lane! I coasted--until ...
