Today, I was approaching a traffic light that turned yellow. I didn't feel like stopping and thought I had enough time to go through it. It turned red before I entered the intersection. I felt bad and was glad there was not a cop that saw it. I actually was talking on the cell phone at the time while driving, but that's not why I didn't stop. I saw the light change and had time to stop, but decided to proceed through it. And it would have been better to stop since I was on the cell phone anyway.
I know it was a bad decision, but I actually thought I had time to go through it and the yellow light didn't seem to last as long. And I was through the intersection within a second of the light changing, so those who had the green light didn't have time to proceed through (or take their foot off of their break) and collide with me. So, nobody at the other side moved or started to go and there was no near miss.
Please to those who answer, no rude comments. I know I did wrong and just want to know if this every happened to anybody else.

sometimes it's hard to stop at a yellow light because then you would have to stop short and make the cars stop short behind you and that could cause an accident. on highways its also hard to stop short since you are going at a faster speed. i've done that many times where i went through at the end of a yellow light and it turned red a little before i passed. don't feel bad about it everyone does it by accident. don't feel so bad! |

I'm sure we all have done the same thing.
As long as you didn't cause an accident, or worse, killed someone, you shouldn't feel guilty about it.
I would recommend you get out of the habit of talking on a cell phone while driving. What in the world is so important to talk about that you have to talk on a phone while driving?!?!? |

I've ran plenty of red lights....you get that quick butterflys in your stomach, then you dont feel bad, because now you wont be late for work.
I had a couple streetlights actually FREEZE and wouldnt cycle properly!
Even the laid back old guy in front of me ran the light after waiting friggin 10 minutes. |

i wouldn't worry about it!! you saw the yellow light and went... not knowing it would turn red so quick, but it did. it is probably better you did go because if you didn't you may of gotten rear ended for stopping so quick, or might of not stopped soon enough and run into the car in front of you. atleast you weren't sitting there at the red light, saw no cars and decided to go. since it was only half a second after the red light, i wouldn't worry about it, this happens to so many people each day, that is why the green light on the other side does not change for about 10 seconds after yours turns red!! ~~hOpE tHiS hElPs~~ |
