Have the majority of car users forgotten how to indicate???

No matter where i go nowadays seems to be people dont know how to use indicators on the cars, especially when going right on a roundabout!!! im pretty sure when i learnt to drive 8 years ago using indicators was standard practice!!! It is so annoying having to stop at a roundabout only to find out the driver was turning off anyway , so therefore there was no need to stop!!
Please for my sanity use ur indicators , cos thats what theyre there 4, theyre not just pretty lights!!!

Are you referring to turn signals? I think in Michigan, it is apparently an option on most vehicles instead of standard equipment as I have noticed since working up here that almost no one (at least not native Michiganders) use the damn thing! I feel like an outcast every time I do!

Nope ... just lazy!!!

I have found that it is mostly expensive top of the range models that the indicators must come as an optional exspensive extra, therefore....

Yes it seems to be happening alot nowadays. Its so bloody annoying, seems that many more stupid ignorant people have taken to the wheel and forgotten that there are other road users on it also.

You know,I've owned alot of cars but I've never purchased a new one.Fortunately all the original owners of my cars ordered the turn signal option, but people must not do that anymore.Besides if your in a sport ute who cares if you take out a small sports car?

Baps .
yes this is getting worse and worse and I'm beginning to notice it a lot on motorways too, which is absolutely stupid. It does take a lot to put your indicators on, I really do wish that people would use them.

I signal a turn if turning off a busy road and the following car is at a decent distance behind me. I don't usually bother to, if I am sitting in a marked left turn lane, or a street that dead ends onto another where a right or left turn are the only option. It's a no brainer isn't it? If some idiot is hugging my back bumper, I will deliberatly NOT signal!. No courtesy to follow me at a safe distance, then I have no courtesy to signal my turn. Let 'em guess!

doanel
Yes, it would be nice if people would use their turn signals, but what to do..................some people just don't get it.
AND don't get me started on stupid people who won't turn on their headlights in the early morning (still pretty dark out).

Even if I see someone using their turn signal, I take it with a grain of salt. Not only am I seeing an increased incidence of failure to use turn signals, the aversion to electronic lights have progressed to ignoring red traffic lights also. I never proceed through an intersection when my light changes to green until I make absolutely sure some Bozo isn't running full out through the intersection. Courtesy is going the way of chivalry, a lost art.

No they haven't forgotten, indicators these days are optional extras >hence they cost more to have operational ones, the people you are tlkn about actuallydo indicate,it's just that they are poor ppl & can't afford to actually have them "blinking"

I think indicators are a hidden extra ! i know what u mean they must think we`re mindreaders !

I've always thought of it this way:

Why would someone repeatedly risk their life just for the sake of flicking a switch?

I had a Taxi driver do a U-turn at a roundabout tonight without any indicators, it's dark here and all from a man who should be a better driver than the rest of us.

minerva
this is so annoying so is people who slow down to turn and then indicate at the last minute or people who swerve one way to turn the other. they are unaware of others and be thankful you're not a pedestrian!

this problem is as old as driving, nobody seems to know what their turn signals are for

PAUL H
Seems they have forgotten, and roundabouts seem to be treated as "stop" signs. Still that's understandable with all the visual obstructions (the councils seem to love to spend money on) sat on the roundabout so you can't see what's coming anyway.

loobylou87
yep i am rite there with you! the indicators are there for a reason, and not just to look pretty! people always do it and if you dare to pull forward a little bit, so they have to move over or woteva, u get abused! i only passed my test one year ago, and we were taught to indicate all the time! its just lazy people, who like to be ignorant, arrogant and try to cause accidents! lolx

What's a roundabout? Are signal lights the same as indicators?
