Have you ever been on the receiving end of the finger in a fit of road rage?
Find answers to your legal question.

Have you ever been on the receiving end of the finger in a fit of road rage?

If so, how did you react? Did you give the finger back (not recommended)? Did you know why the other driver was mad enough to flip you off?

We actually were flipped off once. There were 3 of us in a minivan and I wasn't the driver. The driver that flip us off was a woman in a pickup truck and she actually rolled down her window, beeped the horn, and then gave us the finger out of the window. We were shocked and didn't know why she was mad. She was behind us when we just pulled into a parking lot on the left (and we did use a turn signal) and she beeped the horn that time. Our vehicle was facing another road where she turned down and had a chance to give us the finger.
Additional Details
I don't think I'll be bothered by receiving the bird even though I've never received the bird before as a driver in a fit of road rage, but then again I might have not noticed.

We live in the country and drive mostly two-lane roads with little shoulders. Since the roads here are curvy and hilly it's not recommended that anyone drive over the posted speed limit.

About two months ago I had a full-sized pickup on my aasss I was driving the speed limit, 45 but he seemed irritated by that.

He finally passed me on a straight-away and gave me the bird. On his red full-sized pick-up were bumper stickers that read "US ARMY RETIRED" and "McCAIN/PALIN." My vehicle has a few bumper stickers too: "Veterans for Obama" and "Annoy a conservative: think, care, balance the budget."

The driver was a large white man wearing a cowboy hat. I sped up after him to get his license plate.

So I don't know why this fat guy flipped me off. Was it because I wasn't driving fast enough for him, or was it for my poltical bumper stickers? If it was for my bumper stickers, that fat guy is going to be miserable for the next four years!

Yes -- I accidentally cut someone off. I just didn't see them. I guess I had it coming, but I still didn't like it one bit.

Yes, I have, since I live in Florida and the snowbirds don't know how to drive down here. I just take it in stride, try to realize maybe that person is having a horrible day, and let it go. It certainly isn't worth getting upset about; life is too short to worry about things like getting the bird.

I drive a big rig and, yes, I get flipped off every day. don't pay it no mind, just smile and wave back!

When I was only 10, I was sitting in the passenger's side, and this really trashy guy in a truck gave me the finger for no reason. Sometimes, there just isn't a reason for it. The person is probably just rude in person. On the other hand...

I think the reason why people give the finger now in a fit of road rage, is because the other person can't hear shouting or screaming, but they can see your rude gesture.

It's unfortunate!

I seldom see the finger. I now live in a part of the country where the drivers are so polite that they would never consider doing that.

That wasn't so where I used to live. I've actually had another driver hit me and try to kill me for a perceived infraction.

I passed a car that was turning right off the roadway and she turned left instead to prove a point and teach me a lesson. I was driving a motorcycle at the time and the collision put me over her hood. The Police and the courts had a field day with her. This happened long before road rage was a commonly used term.

I've been driving eighteen wheelers for 32 plus years, and I'm called "number one" at least three times a week.

I've even been called number eleven (two fingers) a time or two.

If you let something like that bother you, park the car and take the bus.
