Have you ever called one of those "how's my driving" numbers on the back of trucks?

I actually called on one in Houston for good driving. He was being very courteous in rush hour and let a lot of people in when he didn't have to. (we had been sitting in the same spot for about 30 minutes) It was SO surprising, that I felt I should call and thank someone.

As a truck driver who has had the telephone number on the back, I have had people call. However, in some cases the people that call are the ones who are going 60 in a 90 highway zone. (As in the case of the caller who called on me was a pregnant woman doing 60 on the highway in a 90 zone. She was going so slow that I had to wait for my chance to go into the fast lane to pass her, at the same time trying to keep my speed up in a heavy truck. She said that I was tailgating her (which was true to be able to pass her quickly on the highway) and that I cut her off which was untrue...I merged back in front of her when I had room and it was safe to do so. She left her number with my dispatcher and asked me to call her which I did and in the end...I sat there...listened to her...and just let her say what she had to say and I didn't argue. I just apologized to her and said it wouldn't happen again...(at least not with me, but if she continues this behavior then it will happen with someone else) However the point being that the numbers are there for both good comments and bad comments. Sometimes for a driver it is nice to hear a good compliment when he has done something good for other drivers. Hope this helps.

I have for both bad and good drivers when it was appropriate to do so.

I never have but I wanted to. A lot of times the ones I want to report are driving so fast down the road I don't have time to write the number down.

I have and I've also written emails to the company concerning careless driving on a number of times. One instance the driver was going the wrong way down a highway and we narrowly escaped a headon by hitting the ditch. The next instance was the same company held up traffic on the freeway for about a half mile. This is a shipping company driving yellow trucks with red initials. They blew me off.

Yep the guy cut me off. Really bad. I called and reported him...they said it was the 4th report on him that day and they were sorry they were going to talk to him about it.
