Have you seen new kind of menace on the roads. its not just...?

the muppets on mopeds, or the speeders, its the little old dears on those motorised scooters. one old lady rides down my street like she is some kind of rally driver.

are these people taking their life in their hands? thats my question.

erm, excuse me,don't answer my question in that manner. these people are on the road, main roads, with buses and lorries..no tax, no insurance, no thought for other road users. no sense of how to use the road correctly they have no legal entitlment to be on a road. if they did a test would be compulsory. yes its great they get out and about but they are designed for pathways.

Your probably right that they are taking their life in their hands, but I've been driving for 30 years and nothing fills me more with dread than cyclists. They're a nightmare!

This is a valid point. Do they have to take some kind of road safety test to go onto public roads. It would be a good idea if they dont !!

The fact that I am deaf in one ear and can't hear these mopeds coming up behind me I find quite scary.I was at a seaside town yesterday and the pavements were filled with pensioners glaring at people who get in their way.Are these things equipped with horns? Because if they are, the drivers should use them.I've also seen people using them on the roads.You can bet that if the traffic is at a go slow, it will be one of these mopeds causing chaos.

Sorry but everyone is entitled to use the roads even , horror, pedestrians. You are just privileged to be allowed to use your car on the same road. It is for you to lookout for others and if you feel that you can not drive and look for other types of road user then you should be stopped from driving.

The motarized scooters for the "little old dears" are NOT allowed on the streets. They do not maintain minimum speeds. All roads have Speed limits and minimums.

I respect all the points being made, but so disappointed not one of you said " Isn't nice to see the older people being made more mobile through these new vehicles and being able to enjoy life a little more. They can now visit more distant shops and carry their own shopping and even lighten the load being placed on others". shame on you, don't forget you will be joining the club soon enough.

At one time those little old dears was just like you, full of go-go and attitude, and someday in the future you will be just like them stiff, sore, feeling negelected and just wanting to get out now and then. we all have to live on the same planet why can't we make an effort to just get along.

Apart from motorways and some trunk roads the public roads are built for everybody and it is most unfortunate that some motorists are so selfish and car orientated that they think that roads are only for cars.

The road tax is the price you pay for letting an idiot loose with a lethal weapon.

Those "little old dears" are just using their scooters in the same way as cyclists who ride on the pavement with little or no regard to others do - the only difference is that those little old dears ARE ENTITLED to ride on the pavement UNLIKE THE CYCLISTS! Bearing in mind that YOU are able bodied and THEY aren't, it;s easier for YOU to get out of THEIR way than vice versa ! ! !
