They spray only works for "flash" cameras. It creates an over exposure like situation. Many of the newer cameras take both a flash and a non-flash image. So it wouldn't defeat those.
A better idea might be those covers that distort the image if seen from any angle other than straight on. However, they are easily seen by the naked eye and may in fact be illegal in some states.
Personally, I think those dang cameras should be illegal. A camera is not able to discriminate what could be an acceptable situation. Imagine a red light camera giving you a ticket because you pulled out of the way of an oncoming ambulance. As someone being "charged with a violation" you have a right to face your accuser. In this case, the accuser is some automated machine with a camera. Yeah, no tampering or misuse possible there! (Note my sarcasm.) There just another tool to make municipalities money. If you really wanted to slow down people in a school zone, park a police car out there with an officer in the car. Trust me, people will slow down. No, it's about revenue, plain and simple.

It is illegal and don't think it works anyway, but your best bet is investing in a gps style speed camera detector that alerts you of all the sites where they use camera vans and also alerting you of accident black spots. It'll make you a safer driver and save your licence.They are quite expensive but trust me its worth it. |

Is that like the spray that makes your hair grow. The cameras see whatever your eyeball sees. Now what you could do is have a button like they do in the movies which has a cover to cover the license plate. |

Invest in a decent GPS camera detector with laser detection & watch for any little white vans parked up in unusual places. |

I haven't tried it, but I was sat in traffic behind a car which had obviously used it, when my head lights reflected onto the number plate, you just got glare so could not read the number plate. I guess this is how it works with the flash from the speed camera, it reflects the light back. I saw it for sale at Burleigh Horse Trials last year, and they said it was not illegal...... I am sure it will be soon though... |

I work as an mot tester where we openly sold the spray as far as road trafic acts concerned no offence was commited as no plate could be read,however local police informed us if caught applying it it is "perverting the course of justice" so we no longer sell it the trick is dont get caught spraying it on. It could have been applied before car bought (your honour) It does work (try taking pic with digital camera looks like a flash) Whether new speed cameras have got round this not sure. Used alot on motorcycles |

It's not actually illegal yet, though I think the authorities are trying to get it banned. The spray doesn't make your number plate invisible - it reflects light so that the speed camera can't detect it. I know someone who has this on his car and he's still got a clean licence |
