Does anyone think that the Hazzard perception on the driving test theory is unfair?
On some of the clips a woman about to walk out in the road is a hazzard then on another clip a woman is about to walk out in the road but this isn't the hazzard - the hazzard is that a lorry pulls out. (these weren't the clips which you have to click twice on either!)
Also on other clips the weather alone is a hazzard - sometimes you can hardly see but to the computer this isn't a hazzard!

Both women were potential hazards and should have been clicked on when first seen. Only one of those developed into a true hazard and should hve been clicked when she was about to step out, the other was no problem as you say - fairly true to real life then. Bad weather is a hazard as you say - it can take twice as long to stop in such conditions.

All new drivers are a hazard.
As far as the Hazard perception test is concerned, it's just another rip off brought to you by rip off Britain.
The only true way to acquire hazard perception is experience, sadly not available over the counter. |

All the more people like yourself find it unfair and difficult,the less there is to worry about new drivers that have just scraped through,on the road.it is not meant to be easy but you only now the answer if you understand the question,maybe you were just not meant to drive? |

I guess you are talking about one of the DVDs you can get to practice your theory at home?
The clips on the home versions are inferior quality & the scoring windows are all over the place.
The official version used at theory test centres is fine, the clips are high quality, I've never seen a clip in bad weather on the official test, the hazards are obvious & the scoring windows are acurate. I've taken the official test several times & passed it easily each time. |

Like Uncle Fester, I'd guess you've been looking at some of those commercially-produced "Practice" dvds. The genuine tests are fine, you can have a go at two of them on the DVLA website; you have to register, but it's free. |

The rule is that its only a hazzard if it makes you chnage the speed or direction of the car to avoid it.
Yes there are loads of possible hazzards on a clip and it wont penalise you click when you see them (within reason, you cant click continuously) but weather doesnt make you change your speed or direction because you would be going slow anyway.
A woman walking out in front of you is only classed as a hazzard if you would have to slam on the brakes or swerve to avoid hitting her. The other woman may have been slighty further away and she didnt walk out in front of you, which means you didnt have to avoid her. Its only a potential hazzard.
If in doubt click on both and it will be fine. You can quite comfortably click 5 or 6 times on one clip and not fail it. Just dont click 20 times. |
